Didn't get the Paul Hicks reference....

Anyway, I just noticed that the poll is a public one as well where your vote is revealed so everyone can see what you voted for.

I don't do things to get a reaction out of people, I'm just curious to know if it's safe to feed my snake certain things, I'm curious, and on average how many Corns people have. I'm just a curious, nice, inthusteacktic [sorry for my spelling] hyper kid. And Susang, I'm sorry for confusing you, I've only had the weeds in my Terrauim for just about a week. You can choose to belive me on this or not, I can show you piturces of my Corn with me if you don't believe that I have a corn. Now can I please get an answer on my humidity Questions?

Cody, you've confused susan with changing your story.

You said you've only had him 5 days in this topic.

In your humidity topic you said you had the weeds in your tank for a month and he loves crawling in them.

This is conflicting info and we're genuinely confused as to whether or not you're giving us real info or just making things up.

Sorry I wasn't payin attention to what I was writting... I've only had her for 5 days, and the day I got her I put the weeds in...

THat must be a VERY bad Petco! I KNOW at my store we have very few die, only one that I know of actually. And we do not poke with pens or grab with towels. I would report that person Cody, either to the store Manager or a higher up, there is a number you can try on the receipt, because they are an idiot. The snake does sound incredicibly stressed though. (Like you said, no wonder). My snake was never like that, I don't think I've ever seen him act stressed or strike, either while with me at home or at the store. Never aggressive at all. It's why I picked him, actually. I hope that means he's comfy here, but I think he just naturally docile and laid back. Good luck with your baby!

I've already reported him, the manger had a talk with him...:)

Woops forget to mention I also wanted to get answers with my feeding qustion...

Haven't both of your questions been answered? Well I can tell you Snake Dave and others answered your humidity question in your other thread. You said this...
http://cornsnakes.com/forums/showpost.php?p=570030&postcount=12

So thats your humidity question answered. Re-read that thread and you can see a lot of advice was given.

About your feeding question...What did your research turn up? I am sure you followed our advice and used the search feature and looked at care sheets on the web, right? :shrugs: I would link you to some care sheets but I think you can do this... www.google.com, then type in Corn Snake Care, then click on a link. You may just be a boy that wants attention and your questions answered but I think it would be good for you to figure out how to answer questions by yourself.

Cody, this is the best advice you have been given on here (although I know it has been given in different ways on different threads, some just in conversation, some in outright instruction --- ie Dean, lol). Research for yourself. Certainly asking questions is part of that, I am not tell you not to post your questions, but remember this is the internet. There is no policing on what is put up there. There is some very good info out there and there is alot, ALOT of crap. Don't come on here, post a question and then run out and do exactly what the person said, unless you are sure of their advice. Read multiple places, multiple authors, find good sources so you can double check your advice you are getting before you go and use some bad advice that might do more harm then good.

Why dont you try not GRABBING!!! the snake slowy and deliberatly move in on it and let it strike you show it your not scared. then when you have CAREFULLY PLACED the snake in the feeding tub with the mouse leave it in the dark on its own TOTALLY for an hour or two. If this doesn't work try sencting your mice with tuna water, feed the snake a mouse head, cut three or four little slits in the back of the mice (this will help the snake smell the mouse and hopefully eat it)DO NOT TRY A FEED EVERYDAY IF YOUR SNAKE REJECTS A MEAL WAIT ABOUT THREE DAYS FROM NOW UNTILL YOU TRY TO FEED NEXT.

Glad you reported the Petco guy, I think he needs more than a talk personally, but that's just me... Good luck with your snake, let me know how it goes! And I know how rough it is with the internet, every website says something different. That's why I came here, because than I could get a general opinion on everything I needed to know. I figured that if a lot of people agreed, it was the best way to go.

Well, I guess I will wait three days from now untill I feed my snake... And next time I'm curious to find something out, I'll check mutiple sites to verifie what they said.:dancer: My snake's to small to eat a mouse if you don't know that, and I don't wanto cut off a mouse's head, I think that's gross.

A pinkie is still a mouse cody, no one was suggesting you feed your hatchling a full grown one.
Also, it may seem gross, but you'd be suprised what you're willing to do for an animal when you actually think it's going to die of starvation.
I hope you never have to reach that point.

But it's called dedication.

I thought what he meant by mouse, was like adult mouse, not pinkie. If worse came to worse I'd be more than happy to do what I have to do to have save her...

I'm going to give a bit of advice even though everyone is right if you do a search you will find all the answers you need, even if you just look at faq's you'll find good feeding advice.
Don't be impatient if your snake doesn't eat. It sounds like you got impatient and tried to put the pinky in the snake's face just because it didn't eat right away. All that will do is scare it and make it even less likely to eat because it will learn to be afraid of food. Wait a few days to let it forget this whole ordeal and next time just put it in a very small container with the pinky and WALK AWAY leave it in a dark and quiet place and don't disturb it for a few hours!
Also the petco sounds horrible, that amount of animals dying within days of arrival probably means all of them are sick or not established eaters. A good breeder is always best when you get your first snake if you don't know how to take care of one.

Good advice, Jen. Yes, you have to leave it along while eating. Some snakes are shy and will not eat with you in the room. If it is in a nice little deli cup or whatever with small holes in it, the snake will be fine for hours. I know it is hard but patience is key here.

Thanks for the advise, are you saying I don't know how to take care of a Corn Snake? :angry01:If so that would be a HUGE understatement...

...understatement? Or the truth. Cody you need to be honest with yourself, you don't know much.
That is ok, but you need to admit that you're asking tons of questions because you don't know the answer, not cause you feel like it.

I agree it's a bit of an understatement ;) If you know so much about taking care of one you wouldn't be asking the same questions that have been asked here a bazillion times. I know you said you had a snake before but you also said it escaped so to me that is not exactly the voice of experience. You're young, you will hopefully learn, the good news is corn snakes are easy to keep - very forgiving of beginning owners.

understatement

noun
a statement that is restrained in ironic contrast to what might have been said [ant: exaggeration]
