So today is my big boy's one year birthday. He is my AKC Alaskan Malamute. He is the only dog I have ever owned that wasn't a mutt, and he has sold me on malamutes. He has the best personality the only downside is the amazing amount of hair that covers my house daily. lol. So here is a mini progression from an 11 week old 30lb puppy to big old 100lb puppy (he's still pretty puppy like).

Awwww as a kid Malamute was my favorite dog, and I reaaaaally wanted one over a Husky. hehe. I've always been a big fan.

I've never owned a Malamute, or even really met one in person, but from what I've seen online they're a whooole lotta dog! Looks like yours has a great family. He looks very very happy!

gotta love those big mali smiles! does he howl?

He's actually really quiet. He only howls when we go outside and leave him locked up inside. And that's only if we take the other dog, if we go outside and leave the other dog in he doesn't make a sound. I've only heard him howl 3-5 times.

Does Pontiac bark or does he do the malamute "woo-woo"?

The rare occasions he makes a noise its a bark, and that's usually only when he wants to play. Our shepherd on the other hand does the "woo-woo" sound....strange I know.

That's a good link! It is something that everyone should read before buying one. However, I have to say that he is the easiest dog I have ever had. Our shepherd mix is honestly much more difficult than Pontiac could ever be. I think that anyone that wants a malamute needs to be 100% a dog lover. You have to be super patient and just like that link says you have to have a huge sense of humor. The biggest problem with him is that he doesn't understand is own size and is constantly knocking stuff over.

My malamute mix goes "woo woo".. usually very quietly. When she was a puppy the first time she barked, she scared herself. She's always been quiet since then :D
