Elle, whats the temperament like on the fasciatum?
Ive always been interested in one, but I'm guessing they are fast, flighty, and have some nice potent venom to them.

The fasciatum was slow and gentle when I got him... thats because he was deeep in pre moult. Now that hes matured hes reclusive, snappy and FAST! They are such a gorgeous species, I just wish they got a bit bigger.

Spiders do totally freak me out though. I think if I had a big spider (like yours) running loose in my bedroom I would not go to sleep. I would not mind having a venemous snake on the loose in my bedroom LOL..

I would never sleep in my room again if one of my hairy beasties got loose LOL. The good thing is I keep them in their tubs inside a bigger tub (with ambient suppliment heat) so if they manage to gnaw their way through their pots they can't get out the bigger tub LOL.

Really? Are you affraid? I figured a spider nut would not mind a spider on the loose at all. LOL have you ever handled one? I did handle one about 15 years ago to get over my arachnafobia and still I hate spiders.

Thanks! This is one of my favorite threads. When I came to this forum I didn't expect an education in tarantulas(or boas, or pythons, or bearded dragons, or...uh...snails).
Much better than reading a simple care sheet or info page.

I am a complete spidiephobe. I handle them occasionally... the avics really melt my heart when they pounce from finger to finger... somtimes from finger to knee to wall but hey ho LOL. It's adoreable, they wiggle their bums and crouch before jumping away LOL

ROFL Elle, I kept my girl under my bed near the heater last night!
I'll probably find a new place for her though, my bed is a piece of junk and it would REALLY suck if something happened to the frame and the box spring and mattress went down. When I'm not sleeping, she is right next to me bed on my night stand, and when I'm not in my room shes hiding in the closet behind blankets and such

nope, I feel kinda bad for sneaking the T, but shes SO cute I couldn't pass her up! LOL my parents will eventually find out about her, and will get over the fact there is a cute little fuzzy 8 legged resident in the house. :]
