I have been trying to figure out what type of Morph my corn snake is and haven't had alot of luck. The pet store had him labeled as a Kisatchie Corn but I don't think that is accurate. Someone else told me he resembled a Jungle Corn but again I am not sure. Please let me know what you think. Since all of my pictures are too large for this forum I have included the photobucket link.

Thank You

Looks like an Abbott's Okeetee. Nice thick borders.

One of my Abbott's:

Looks like an okeetee to me, but better wait for one of the more experienced member comes by. I'm by no means an expert.

You guys are awesome, this is my first snake so I am a total newbie and never would have guessed Okeetee. Thank you to all of you for your assistance.

It does look like an Okeetee. A pretty good Okeetee at that. But with out actually knowing that it comes from Lee Abbot's line of Okeetees you can not really call it an Abbot's Okeetee.

The Abbot's Okeetee name means that it is an Okeetee from the line that Lee Abbot created, it is not just a trade name for really a nice Okeetee.

Okeetee, by the way, is a name for a specific patterning of a normal. It's not a separate morph, but rather a line-bred pattern trait.

What? I think you really need to hit the books a lot harder...

Okeetee Corns (classic corns, originate in the South Carolina wildtype). These snakes are characterized by deep red dorsal saddle marks surrounded by very black borders. The ground color varies with bright orange being popular amongst breeders. As with the Miami phase, selective breeding has changed the term “Okeetee” to an appearance rather than a locality. Some on the market originate solely from selectively breeding corns from the Okeetee Hunt Club.

Okeetee is the name of an area in South Carolina made famous by some field collected specimens. Usage has since evolved to describe snakes from that area with the particular look, and also snakes (regardless of origin) with the particular look. The Okeetee look is one of bright and contrasty colors, an orange ground color with boldy-bordered red saddles.

Okeetee Corn Snake $35.00 Pantherophis guttatus IN STOCK NOW

The "classic" corn with rich orange colors. Truly the most beautiful naturally occuring corn.

Tell me how I got that wrong.

Pepper, there are 2 definitions of Okeetee. One is a pattern and one is a localality. Okeetee Hunt club in SC is considered the localality. So corns from this region are considered Okeetee's, even if they do not have the thick borders. And the other is the pattern, which I am sure you know is the thick borders on the corn snake ect....

Thank you again to everyone. After looking at the pictures of your, also gorgeous snakes I have decided that 5:00, is without a doubt, a very handsome young Okeetee. He is about to be one very spoiled little little Okeetee as well. Look for pictures of his new 55 gallon kingdom in the near future.
