Meet our first hatchling for the year and we are stumped!

Parents: Diffused het ghost x diffused Goldust

Any ideas on this little ones morph. It's belly is whitish with clear checkers. I will post pictures tonight when I get home from work.

Looks like one of your adults is not diffused, or this could be a product of retained sperm if the female was bred last year. Could you post pictures of the adults?

I believe what you are seeing on the belly are the clear scales of a diffused, not checkers. Unless one parent is NOT diffused, the baby has to be diffused.

Was the mom bred last season?

Could it be a fire? Mom is also het amel??

Hmm first breeding for female so definitely not retained sperm. However I'm thinking it's actually an egg that was from a butter x amel stripe crossing. Another virgin clutch.

It does not appear to have the typical gray head of a fire (diffused) hatchling. If it is the latter then I would predict a very nice amel. Anyways, congrats on your babies :)

Here is a fire hatched out the other day

Since there is more than one clutch in a single container, and this hatchling more greatly fits the expected offspring from the other clutch, I would say it's from that one and is an amel het butter stripe instead of the result of the diffuse clutch. It's definitely an amel, but does not show any indication of being homo diffuse from y9our description of it's belly and what I can see in the provided photo (absolutely no hint of any diffusion to the sides).
