so i need to make a new viv that will hide the snake from inspectors.. i'm thinking a opaque viv with 2 lines of small holes and holes above..
will that be enough natural light?

my snake is an adult.. i don't really know what other options i have so i think i'm going to try it and just monitor shedding/eating habits to make sure he is ok.

I wouldn't be terribly concerned about light over the short term. I'm guessing you need to hide the snake from inspectors in a rental that doesn't allow pets? I'd put the snake in a pillowcase and just put that in a drawer when you expect them in that case.

I managed to hide 19 snakes in an apartment that didn't allow pets. I had racks in the closet and just threw a tablecloth over each when management was coming in. I don't condone it, just saying...

I have 2 snakes here in my apartment, they say no pets but I found out they did allow fish tanks!, so I told the managment I have an aquarium, (just snakes in it not fish), they are cool with it.

I like my landlords; I do snake demos, answer questions, and insist that they'll go with us when we move.

haha atleast i know i am not the only person with this problem and i cant just chuck the snakes out the window like i do with my cat :p all i did was throw my dirty laundry on top of the vivs when the doorbell rang and they didnt dare move it + they shouldnt be allowed to touch your personnel stuff so the clothes should be fine on top of the viv for the brief period they are visiting

You may want to check the rental laws where you live but I know here "pets" do not include any animal living in a cage or aquarium. It refers to cats, dogs, pigs, etc. Usually birds, mice, rats, snakes, fish are not considered in that law.

Hmmmm, i might have to lay out the law book when i go back up to school in a month lol

Unless they specify it in the rental agreement. I know most places up here in Alaska dont mind stuff like "reptiles" ( alot of people dont like snakes up here haha) and fish and birds but wont allow dogs or cats.

I've always wondered this myself. In Arvada, Colorado you are allowed up to four dogs, cats, pigs. You are allowed two chickens and up to 14-15 small pets. It really doesn't define "small pets". I know I'm living on the edge with all my snakes.

I have hidden a few animals in the past. I do know that just because the city or county says you can doesn't mean you can. It depends on your rental agreement or if you own it could depend on the CCR's for your housing development.
We live in a mobil home park and own our home, but we cannot have German Shepards, Pit Bulls or any large dog unless prior approval is given. No chickens, or large indoor birds. No cats outside although that rule is broken all the time. No keeping of exotic pets, although many knew I had snakes and no rodents.
I know the housing development next to us has a no chicken, horse, cow, goat thing. Yet directly across the street there are farms.

I pay an extra $100 a month for my landlord to deal with my animals. No lease agreement. It's a good and bad thing, depending on the subject. He doesn't know how many animals I have because he's terrified of snakes, even pictures, and won't go in the apartment. Again, that's good and bad. :p

Well, I should specify that if a rental is listed as "No Pets Allowed" I know of many people that were allowed to have stuff like reptiles and fish and some times birds.
