• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

New advertisements...

Anyone see the corn cleaner one yet? I think it's for cleaning ovens lol. A lot of them don't seem to have much to do with snakes :shrugs:

I don't know, but I used to not have any problem getting these pages to load and now I get a lag where the page loads up and sits blank reporting "done" at the lower left corner of the screen and pauses for 5 to 30 seconds before opening the page. I'm guessing it's having to look up these google ads or something? It doesn't do this for other sites and I tried rebooting the computer with no change. Argh is that annoying.

Shrug. Didn't have any problem when the ads were at the bottom of the page, so maybe my computer is just scared by them. :grin01:

Plus, if you only log in when you want to see attachments or have something to post, instead of avatars and rep points and whatnot, all you see for each post in the left pane is a plain-text username.

Not that that's such a problem - in fact it makes a lot of the posts take much less vertical screen space - but things are definitely getting changed around here.

I don't like the new huge titles either...

And to top it off, I HATE that colour of blue the adds are in.

as for corn snake oven cleaner I havent seen it yet, But I have seen boa drills and timber etc...

If I'm not mistaken the ads that we are currently seeing at the top of the forum have been found at the bottom of the forum for some time now (couple years?). It is only their location that is different. Hopefully Rich can indicate whether this is on purpose or due to some other reason and/or if it has anything to do with the slow loading problems some are having.

Adblock'd

It's sad that it had to come to this, but I'm blocking the banners too. Everything from the domain "google" or "faunaads" is no longer allowed to appear on my screen.

At least before they were generating hits. But if the ads are going to be obnoxious, then I'm blocking ALL of them.

At least I won't have to look at that ridiculous FLASHY FLASHY banner again.

And exactly how do you do this? I'm getting annoyed with the ads as well and my load time for the pages is noticeably slower. Much like Hurley and others it loaded the page but took an additional 15-20 seconds to 'load' the page where I could actually read/see anything.

I installed the Firefox Browser. Then in one of the menus it has an item called "Extentions." In that list you can find several ad blockers. The one I grabbed was by (I think) Michael McDonald. It only takes a right click on the ad to tell it what to remove.

Yeah, I just did a search for ad-ons for AdBlock and chose the one by the AdBlock team.

I personally despise having to have firefox on my computer, but it's the only way I can stand to look at the forum right now.
