New Hatchlings

ssssinful-1

Held Hostage By Corns
These aren't the greatest pictures... and then the camera battery died. These are from my 2nd clutch. They are pretty interesting to me- and I am trying to figure out the morphs. They were hatched on 6/17 and are nearing their 1st shed- so, I will have to post more after their shed.

I have a good idea of what they are, but I wanted to get some opinions since I am still wrapping my head around these things. Thanks in advanced for any input. These guys are from a Anery het Charcoal/Diffused and a Normal Diffused/Anery. Testing the Normal for Charcoal- which I believe proved out.

1st 3 pics- Bloodred
2nd 3 pics- Charcoal

My Keeper...

I love the bald spot on his head... it is really light. Opaque.

Some other interesting ones... all 3 are of the same snake. This one I believe is bloodred?

The first snake is a normal. You can see the edgings of belly checkers (compare it to the belly of that pewter looking one). Same with the other "I think this is a bloodred". I would say that snake #2 looks like a charcoal to me.

I'm seeing far too many belly checks on the 2 that you have labeled bloodreds (2010.61.06 and the one in post #4). Plus, they have no side diffusion whatsoever. I would personally call them normal het bloodreds. As for the suspect charcoals, it's hard to tell by the photos. Post-shed close-ups of the heads showing the cheeks and eyes would be of tremendous help. The one you have marked as a keeper in post #3 sure looks like an awesome pewter though!

You wouldnt hit charcoal unless both parents were het for it. You said only one parent was het, so its not really possible. You could have gotten lucky though. I have trouble picking anery from charcoal, especially as babies.

Makes more sense... what is a desirable for the Normal? For example, belly patterning split down the middle, a really reddish/pink ventral?

Ok... so look for the plain bellies with the diffusion up the sides. That is the key... and the masques on the face.

Most of them are going into blue. All I can explain until the next photo shoot is their heads are grey/blue silver and their eyes appear to be black.

My breeding was to test out the female for charcoal. If I came up with a pewter, it would be safe to say the female is het charcoal. The breeder I purchased her from said she was normal het anery and diffused POSSIBLE het for charcoal and hypo.
So, if she is het charcoal- I could have charcoals.
If she is het for anery and charcoal- I could have Anery Charcoals (what do they look like????)
If she is het anery and diffused- then I could have Granites?
And... we think the #3 is a Pewter. So, this would mean she is het Charcoal and Diffused. They make lovely hatchlings.

You feel my pain at the moment. I want to get this right. This is why I love this hobby- genetics is facinating!
