New here and new to snakes

Hello all! I thought I should join this group since every time I googled a question about corn snakes, a lot of the links brought me here. I bought our corn snake for my son's 8th birthday. He helps me with feeding and handling (I do all the cleaning of course lol). I have really enjoyed going through the pictures of your snakes! And I am grateful for all the wonderful information here.
We picked our snake out at a Petco after doing a ton of research as to what would be the best type of snake for us and what goes into the care of a corn snake. I have owned a bearded dragon before and so far the corn snake is so much easier to care for (and less costly).
I am thinking about obtaining another corn for my 10yr old, but that will be a few months from now. My 10yr is really into finding a Corn snake whos color "pops". So again, the research begins! lol

Welcome to the forum! Feel free to ask any questions you have. I'd also recommend reading the stickies at the top of each section - they have tons of good info.

If you and your other child want to look through all (or most) of the available morphs, I'd definitely recommend iansvivarium.com. It has a great list with pictures.

Welcome, we're glad to help you with anything you need! Olivia is right about reading the stickies, and Nanci has a great care sheet to check out. Good luck, and let us know if you need anything!

Also, if you haven't already, two of our members have excellent books on corn snakes. Check out the books by Kathy Love and Don Soderberg, you will find great info there too.

Your right about one thing, we have 8 snakes and a bearded dragon, the beardie is waaay more work than all the snakes combined....

I haven't read Kathy's book, but I can wholeheartedly recommend Don's. It's a great source of information. . I keep mine on my Kindle at all times so I can quickly go back to it whenever I need to.

What's your 10 year old's favorite color? You're almost sure to be able to find a corn snake to match.

Hello! Welcome to the forum. Very cute snake you've got there. If you're looking for another snake, it's hatching season and there's a lot of "new baby" threads going around here. I'm sure you'll find something bright and colorful. I would try a Reverse Okeetee, if your 10 year old is into orange. They're really bright! It sort of looks like they've been attacked with a highlighter. :)

I will be going to the portland reptile show in august with my kids. My 10 year old is already making a list of what he needs to get for the snake. So I know I will be most likely coming home with another snake that day. Lol
My son at first wanted color that popped. Now hes thinking a ghost? Idk. Lol
Im sure he'll find something to his liking.

Hey everyone

Hi everyone just want to introduce myself. I'm not entirely new to snakes but this is my first year with a successful clutch. My female had her first last year but none made it.
So I'm still quite a novice on that side of things and this site has really helped particularly when I came across a wierd white covering on some of my hatchlings eyes.
I've got an anerythristic and a amel motley, and currently six hatchlings ans counting :) one being a snow well chuffed.

welcome... I got my first corn not too long ago and planned on just having one. Now I have 3, an anery, amel and miami phase. I will be stopping at 3... they are addicting.

I have found that they are addicting! lol I find myself looking on the internet at different colors and wanting more. lol But thankfully my hubby, who is afraid of snakes, will not allow more than 2-3 snakes.
Anyway, I thought I would let everyone know that our Optimus Prime shed!!!! He (we just say he, we have no clue if it is a he) shed while we were away camping. But wow! He is so gorgeous. He seems to have gotten a little redder in color. (well I think he has anyway lol)
