Hello all, I'm Kyle and I've been around here for a little less than a year. First I was a lurker, then I was a poster and now I'm a contributing member. Some of you may have seen me posting under the UN of "AMBER" That was the morph of my first recent cornsnake ( had a Classic Corn and a Classic Boa many moons ago) and Rich Z. kindly changed it to ForkedTung ( after membership I might add ) as that is the name I use on a few other related sites. I hope never to speak with one ( a forked tongue that is) but I just find that one of the many fascinating aspects of our serpentine children. I have since that first .1 Amber acquired: .1 Amel het Hypo, Mot, Anery, Caramel 1. Butter .1 Snow (pink/green) 1. Ghost stripe 1. Lavender het hypo .1 Hypo Lavender 1. Bloodred 1. Amel .1 Snow (pink) .1 Snow 1. Hypo Lavender het Amel, Anery, Mot 1.1 Classic 66% Lav, Mot Hypo ( gotta have a couple of compatable genes here) .1 classic het Blood, Amel Charcoal ( from Drizzt80) Also expanding into Royal /Ball Pythons 1.1 Classic het Albino 1.1 Pastel .1 Classic and 1. Spider...I'm breeding 4 of the adult females for the first time, for me anyway ( fingers crossed, my Amber is due to lay any minute). I guess one could say that I'm addicted, 21 snakes in about 10 months, Geez that's about 2 per month. So I decided to start a little business breeding snakes as a hobby with my seven year old son River, we live in Ohio so " Buckeye River Reptiles" was born. with the main goals being to enjoy ourselves, spend time together, educate ourselves and hopefully make some money to offset husbandry expenses. He loves the snakes as much as I do, is respectful of them and always making insightful observation about them, It is a joy for me to watch.
Anyway, This "community" has been very cool to be a part of, IMO, it is so much more tight-knit than all of the others and there are many genuine, helpful and caring people here, thanks for everything, Kyle and River

Hello and Welcome Back! You have collected quite a bit of snakes! I hope all breeding plans work well for you!

Ohh and I lived up in Ohio for 14 years so I love the name of your company!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and this
whats round on both sides and tall in the middle?
"o-HI-o"
, I think, I've NEVER heard that one before Clipclop, but I did live in Alma and Fairplay for a few years ( I wasn't a "flatlander" then for sure), I loved it, I would live there again now if it weren't for family obligations...Kyle

See, that's the joke I thought you were referring to lol! I think it made me giggle for a straight 20 minutes when I heard it first in 5th grade or something. About the corniest joke ever.....

Gee whiz, ForkedTung - I feel better about my own addiction now! My rate of acquisition isn't so bad compared to yours. Seriously, good luck with the enterprise, and welcome (again).

Thanks Caryl,( I think? heh heh!) What's your rate of acquisition? C'mon do the math....Kyle

Do the math? Well, I've actually avoided this. Not because the math is difficult, but because the answer is a bit scary. My first one was given to me on Feb. 1st. I purchased four from Kathy Love approximately 6 weeks later. That means my rate of acquistion to that point was about 1 snake every 1.2 weeks. Since then I have restrained myself, so my "rate to date" is a mere 1 snake every 3 weeks. I think that's fairly modest; what do you think?

Caryl, considering that I'm at 1 snake every two weeks and you're at 1 every 3 weeks, I'm thinking that our "addictions" are pretty close together, or far apart if that makes you feel better. I do have to say though that you've been collecting for 3 and a half months and have 5, and as I recall I had only 3 snakes by then, there was a point at which I had about 6 coming in, part of my manic phase at that point. Anyway if I have to be addicted to something, it might as well be something positive that I can enjoy with my son...might have to get a second job just to support the snakes though:spinner::spinner::spinner:

Hello

what part of Ohio. I live in NW Ohio. I have 38 snakes and 16 of them are corn snakes. At this time i have 48 corn snake eggs and two females still to lay. Amber corn are a nice color morph. I might have some striped Ambers this summer.

what part of Ohio
? I live in Stark County. I am originally from Kirtland on the East side of Cleveland. Would you ever be interested in some breeding loans? Also I would possibly be interested in an Amber Stripe if you ever produce/sell any. What other snakes do you have?
Hello and welcome back, kinda lol
Thanks Ravenspirit:), Do you ever do any field herping there? I remember being in Vegas and seeing a Praying Mantis there that was desert tan and had bloodred eyes, ever see one of those there? K

Ya, I would be will to do breeding loans. I try to make it to the Cleveland show every month. As far a the Amber stipes, I may have some this summer. I have a pair of Hypo corns that are to be het for butter strip. I think some one was trying to pull a fast one on me cause butter and amber strip look a lot alike. The way to tell them a part is the eye color. I would be happy to hatch out either morph. This is also one of the two still waiting to lay eggs. The other snake that i have are....

1.1 bull snake (the female being snow)
1.1 speckled King (hypo & het Hypo)
2.1 Ball Python (pastel, het albino & albino)
10.8 corns

I have a few other snake that i will be selling this summer to make room for the above breeding projects. rainbow boa, Nic. boas, gopher snake, GTP and a few male corns.

Dusty Jones, aka reptile_jones

Reptile Jones, What morphs of corns do you have? Also is the Albino BP a male or female? I also will be going to the Cleveland show maybe next month. You can email me at the address on my signature. Kyle

I wish there was a monthly show in my area. Sigh.... Ah well. I'd probably just buy more snakes, anyway! lol
