New Rescue... Anery?

I agree. Before Don posted that a week or so back, I didn't connect "frosted" to "hybrid" in any way... I just thought it was a cool thing that popped up in "pure" corns from time to time... heck, that's still how I mostly think of it. I just thought I should spread around the info :shrugs:
I wouldn't be overly upset if she is a hybrid, but it would be nice to know just so I could label the offspring as correctly as possible. Then again, maybe it's not responsible for me to breed her if she might be a hybrid and I don't know. I don't know. I've also got an amel that's been suggested might be a cream... and maybe she is! I got her out of a "non-feeding" grab bag full of every color imaginable and now she's growing like a weed, so... who knows. With how diluted emoryi or obsoleta blood could be by this point, who ever knows?

Good luck with that! It has been my observation that most snakes that look a tad bit "off" in color or frosting being labeled hybrid by a number of people. It's interesting that noone has yet to prove hybrid status of any snake unless they know the parental heritage of the snake. :shrugs: It's interesting the number of pure amels that get questioned weekly just because they're a bit yellower than normal or "don't quite look right".

What's sad for me to so see is it's usually noobs sharing a pic of their new snake that get told it's definitely a hybrid and then they're thrown for a loop, etc etc. etc. Kinda sad really.

Just your thread alone gets bumped to hybrid status due to a bit of supposed frosting on your new acquisition! :) To be honest, I didn't even notice it as frosting . . . it looks more like the centers of the saddles are dissolving. I've got lots of corn morphs here that do that as they mature! Interestingly enough all of my Normals het Blizzard Bloodred look like that . . . by the reasoning of hybrid screamers, your snake must also be het Blizzard Bloodred! :eek1:

Nice looking corn, I still say it's a ghost. Would be nice to hear back for certain after breeding!

I'm going with ghost for the time being, as well.
The first time I saw her I took the "frosting" in her saddles to just mean that she was a little bit of an older lady, and past her prime color stage... and that's okay with me. :) She's just as sweet as can be.
One thing is for sure, she is not an albino everglades ratsnake (as her previous owner believed her to be). :)

The amount of pink/peach is not a determination of being a ghost as I have 3 anerys (proven genetics) that also have plenty of that color and I have produced many more of the same. I guess the only way you're going to know for sure is through breeding trials, but I'll put money on it being an anery.

What a big beautiful girl:)

Could I ask you to expand on the pink tongue vs the black tongue expectations?

Our Anery A boy had a black tongue.
We have '07 Caramel (black tongue) and '07 Hypo Charcoal (pink tongue).

Or I could start a new thread if that is more appropriate...

Looks like a ghost to me. She is very pretty. I would check her belly to see if it is possible about her being in blue. Growth is pretty noticeable there(least to me). It is possible that she was in full blue before you got her and is on her clearing up period before the actual shed. Wouldn't hurt to put a damp hide in just in case. Glad she seems to be doing very well in her new home and glad she has someone who will get her back to a healthy weight. Good luck.

She is now fully in blue! But it's been over two weeks since I started this post, so I doubt she was blue then. Will keep everyone updated, and you can expect new pics when she sheds out. :)
