made politer and with use of scientifically correct words, i will have to remember that. i also like the 'Holy leaping lizards', do those have to have a bowl of holy water? a vaguely relevant animal though.(reptile)
 
The messed up part was that Wade went out of his way to be helpful and polite, and the OP couldn't even be bothered to get his name right.
 
OOOOOOkay..... I am sorry you all got to fighting. I was just asking questions.... Ummm What do you guys think of the Lab cages with the steel tops, and where might I find a reasonable price on them?????
 
i use lab breeding boxes which are great, they have a steel cage which sits on top of plastic boxes, the steel cage section is shaped to provide a feed hopper and a water bottle holder as well. i will get some pictures some time today to show you what i mean.

they are really easy to clean, to top up food, to refill water, its al made really quick and easy.
 
i got mine from Kent in the UK but i expect shipping might be a bit much to America... they are extremely expensive new, something like £50-60 per box. or at least the one i got were, i got them second hand though so they were alot cheaper.
 
I have a few of the lab cages but i noticed young mice can get out somehow so I use 10 gal tanks and recently downsized to one 1.4 colony.
 
Thats exactly what I meant.. Nice Shed my Shed is a little bigger but I have to store the mower and yard tools in it.

Danny where the smaller mice getting out by climbing through the screen or were they moving the lid around?
 
The lid was snapped in place and i checked for broken bars but didn't find any. i guess they were able to squeeze through. I was going to put some hardware cloth over it but never got around to it.

I've noticed their are two different sizes of bars in the lab cages. For rats they have a larger space between the bars and for mice it's much smaller. Sounds to me like you had rat bars since you had issues with escapes.
 
The mice from my male cage, also called the "Death Camp", squeeze out the bars and sit ontop of the cage, so I started leaving the door open with twisty ties so they could get back in, and so far I've only had one mouse get on the floor.
