Hello everyone! I'm newer to the forums. I've been around for a few weeks just kind of checking everything out. I think it's awesome to have a place like this for everyone to come together and share their love for and knowledge of these animals. I have kept corn snakes in the past however I don't currently have any snakes. My fiancé and I had purchased a 29 gallon aquarium a little while back with the intentions of setting up a fish tank after our wedding next month. Well after staring at the empty tank on our screened in porch for a few weeks I started getting the "I really would like to get a snake again itch" and though it took a little convincing (and a little begging) on my part she finally broke down and agreed a snake wouldn't be such a bad thing to have around. So I have been hitting the net pretty hard (with just about all the free time I have) brushing up on how to care for these guys. So far I have the 29 gallon aquarium, aspen bedding, and a nice piece of grape vine I purchased at the only pet shop we have within a 50 mile radius (yeah we kinda live in the middle of nowhere I'm a city boy recently turned country boy haha) I still need my uth, a couple hides, water bowl, thermostat, and a couple thermometers. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good thermostat I was looking into the hydrofarm model MTPRTC I found on amazon does anyone else use this? pros and cons would be MUCH appreciated. I was also wondering if anyone knows of or if there are any breeders who have a male amber corn I'd like a yearling or a hatchling. The one pet shop we have near by typically only carries normal corns. I'm also a little nervous buying from them as they are grossly over priced on everything they sell and I talked to the owner for a bit and it seemed like I may have known a bit more about corns than he did...:headbang: I also looked into reptile shows and the closest one is an hour and a half away once monthly and only on sundays. I work 3rd shift and work every sunday night so getting to one of the shows would be a massive pain. I'm not able to purchase anything else until after our wedding in early August but if anyone is able to point me in the right direction or knows of a breeder that has ambers I would greatly appreciate it! Wow this turned out to be a bit of novel thank you for taking the time to read and I hope to hear from some of you soon!

Hello and welcome!
We have one of those hydrofarm thermostats, I believe it's that model and have no complaints on it. Seems like I remember a fair number of breeders on here and maybe one or two other sites I'm on being in Ohio, just can't remember who or what morphs they breed off hand. Another option is having one shipped, it's definitely scary the first few times you do it but from the right seller, it's very safe. Shipping can be pretty expensive but it will expand your options a lot! And if you buy from someone like South Mountain Reptiles, Don Soderberg, he ships enough that he gets a great discount and can offer very reasonable shipping prices. And his snakes are wonderful.

Just off the top of my head members airenlow and rich333 are both in OH. Good job on getting everything ready BEFORE bringing one home, and welcome to CS.com too :)

Danny Wynn is up by Cleveland. Tom Thompson is in PA, somewhere! Josh Enlow (airenlow) just had a bunch of babies!!

Thank you Chris and Nanci! Yeah I want to get everything I need setup and get my temps right before I bring one home I have learned for past snake experiences its way easier that way. I'm actually located between Cleveland and PA a bit closer to PA so I will definitely be looking at all my breeder options around that area.
