Greetings all!
Im new to the snake world, and acquired my first snake a couple months ago.
My 3 year old son got really attached to him until sadly he escaped few weeks ago.
We finally decided to get a new one, both snakes are around 6 mths old now.

To my surprise, we found the old one chilling in the corner of very cold window yesterday(its winter here in quebec.)

Ive been doing research on having multiple corns in 1 viv and almost everyone is against it. I also read the CSM by Kathy Love. Sadly, it seems I would have to let the other one go :( For now, I will keep them together in a 15 gallon aquarium and will separate them during feeding.

heres the pic of Solid the snake, and will post a pic of Liquid the snake once I have time to take pics of him.

Does anyone know what morph of this one is?

thanks!
Herb

Please do not release a captive snake into the wild!

Can't you find a home for him, with someone else, or purchase another tank?

I second that idea - if you absolutely cannot keep both, I feel certain that a reptile rescue organization or herpetological society exists in Montreal and can help you find a home. Thrift stores often have used aquaria that can be acquired for a song as enclosures. Just please don't put an animal that can't survive in the wild out...

I just did a quick Google search, and there are options:

check craigslist for bigger tanks on the cheap, that's how I got mine. you can always add a divider and keep both snakes. ;)

Gonna second or third or fourth the get another tank suggestion. Even a small tub as someone else mentioned will work until you can set up another viv. Since they're both still pretty young they won't need much space or decoration, a 10 gallon with a bowl and couple home made hides will work.

Besides, you can't have Solid without Liquid! Great names btw, my next corn will be named Big Boss

thank you for the suggestion :)
I will pick up the cheap small aquarium today, and will hunt for the complete set vivarium on kijiji. Cant really afford to buy new setup at pet store atm.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to heat the cheapo small plastic aquarium properly?

and thanks for liking the name Nythain, Big Boss would be an awesome pet name, lol

If it's temporary you could use a low watt uv or red bulb. Over tank heating isn't the best or most preferred, but it's certainly better than nothing while waiting on a proper UTH and thermostat.

Single dome lamps and low watt heating bulbs pretty cheap, would probably cost ~$25. If you get the UV or Red light at around 50 watt (mebbe even lower) you can leave it on without much regulation as it won't warm up too much and the light wont disturb the snakes night time cycle much.

Well, the UTH will require a thermostat to maintain proper temperatures (it shouldn't ever get above 86-88 at it's hottest) so I don't see much problem. As long as the plastic is sturdy enough to withstand slightly warmer than room temperature temps.

Hopefully someone with a plastic container rack will chime in here today on that one, might be better to use strip instead of mat? Either way, you will definitely want to move from an overhead to under heat for comfort and digestion though.

It should never get hot enough to melt or warp the plastic if you have it regulated by a thermostat. All of my snakes are in plastic bins with belly heat and I've never had an issue.

Looks to be a nicely coloured normal. :) Also looks like he has some stuck shed. If you put a wash cloth in the bottom of a small plastic bin, put in a little lukewarm water (should not feel hot to you) and let him swim around in it for about 15 minutes, that should come off. When the bath is done, let him slither through the cloth as you hold it and he should be able to get the rest of the retained shed.
