Normal, red factor, strawberry, what the??

I agree, (possibly) red factor kastanie! WOW, what a lucky find Angela!
Someone whole-saled what they thought was a normal.... lucky!

When I saw her, I had to have her. She was just so different looking than the rest. Might have to do a test breeding but I'm pretty sure she's a kastanie. Lucky find for sure :)

Angela, she is quite attractive, and so is the snake. Several times when producing F1's of outlandish this X that, I have sold off the surplus classics loaded with hets to pet stores, all the males go to the west coast, all the females to distributors on the east coast, so there will be little chance of someone else hitting my target some few years down the road. Other breeders do the same. Suffice it to say, there are a lot of cornsnakes in petshops which are loaded with good genetic material. Fortunately persons such as yourself who have the ability & intuition to spot good future breeding outcomes in petshop snakes are few and far between. Kastanie, copper, Golden (remarkably similar, swap the base color for yellow), rosy... All visually share similarities.
Toss in some RF or lava or okee or coral or diffused independent of bloodred and...
Good catch.

Very nice find. I found a kastanie female at a petco a few months ago. The first pic is what mine looked like when I got it, but the after pics look different.

Very nice looking snake, reminds me of some of the normal I produced from my rf lines. Big congrats on it.

That's interesting, because I found her at an Illinois Petco July 2012. While I was home visiting the family for a month.

Im still not sure if she's a kastanie or not, but I plan on doing some test breedings in the future.

Here's an update on this girl. She will be ready to test breed next year but so far I haven't made any plans. She is one gorgeous girl though, best impulse buy ever I think.

She is just absolutely stunning. I can't wait to hear what you decide. Let me know if you need a boyfriend.

After talking to Don, Steve Roylance, and John F, I am thinking since she came from Petco so is likely Gourmet Rodent stock and might actually be a Mahogany. I saw a few pictures of Mahogany corns and think this is it. Only testing her will find out! Fingers crossed things work out and I can test breed her next season.
