Ball pythons are a- expensive, b- really picky eaters, and c- require very precise temperatures and housing.
Actually it wasn't a bad call.... Can I ask.... Do you breed them?Do you own one?
Yes it was, and I do. Ball Pythons are one of the easiest snake species to take care of, and far gone form the days of picky wild caught animals. Othwise, they wouldn't have been so prolific to the hobby, so easily. They'd only be a touch ahead of brongersmai.Actually it wasn't a bad call.... Can I ask.... Do you breed them?

As it's a short term answer to popularity....
All of it. That's an opinionated view from an outside source looking at the market, and hearsay. They can be expensive, if you're looking for an investment, but a normal Ball Python runs average from $10-20 each. Picky eaters varies from animal to animal, and is far from as common as it used to be. Out of 100+ Ball Pythons that we have, we have one picky eater. She's growing out of it with ease. Spot on temps are another exaggerated rumor. Different things work for different keepers, and as long as you're not keeping them at ridiculous temperatures; they'll do fine. 87F-90F works fine.So which bit are you in disagreement with...
They are expensive
they are picky eaters
they require spot on temps....

$60-80 is Pastel and Yellowbelly male prices. If you're paying that kind of price for a normal, it's either het for something, or it's a pet store reselling it. Why go to the pet store, when you can buy from the breeder?I do not know where you are getting your normal Bp's at, but the only ones around here are going for 60-80$ easy.
