Oh, Craigslist...

Oh come on. Really? I've been drooling over this snake for a few months or so, at least... I LOVE Whitesided black rats. But I've noticed something very odd about this ad. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/pet/4301756158.html

When this snake was first posted... Same person, same picture... It was listed at $35. Fine price, but apparently there aren't many rat snake lovers around here. Or something. It sat for a couple months.

Then one day, I peeked in to drool for a minute, and noticed they had boosted the price to $45. Okay.. Whatever... It sat for a couple more months.

Then this morning, I opened the ad to drool once more. Probably the 10th time this week. And noticed something odd... $60? Wait, what??

This snake has sat and not budged at a great price for months. What possessed this person to nearly DOUBLE the price? I'm baffled, and now can't help but question--is it even a real ad?

There is someone that has a sand boa listed on my local CL. They have been relisting him for awhile now too. The price was $60 and they recently raised it to $75. Idk why they think a higher price is going to help rehome him, usually people lower the asking price...

She's very pretty. I don't see why so.so e would want to sell her.

So are the bearded dragon Morphs frozen? Are there 50 of them? I would call and ask but I'm afraid to.

Right? I had to read it several times to realize that "50" meant $50.

"ALL PRICES ARE THERE! DONT CONTACT ME ASKING HOW MUCH! AND I DON'T CARE HOW CHEAP YOU GOT IT OTHER PLACES, IF IT WAS SO CHEAP DON'T TRY PURCHASING FROM ME, STICK WITH THEM, YOUR JUST WASTING MY TIME! Other than that, feel free to call"

I think the 6 large bearded dragon morphs are frozen. Huh, wonder what you do with a frozen bearded dragon morph. Or 6 of them. Or 1 giant frozen one.

I really love that rant followed by 'feel free to call'. Where are you anyway? The Psych ward? So funny.

Wow some of these are real winners. People baffle me sometimes.

I came across a pretty interesting ad one time. This person had rescued a Blue Tongue Skink and nursed it back to health, and they did an amazing job with her. They then went on to say how they wanted to rescue reptiles and that they would take in any unwanted herp. They also uploaded 3 pictures of the other animals they owned.

Photo one showed a leopard gecko and crested gecko being housed together in what appeared to be just a very large plastic critter keeper.
Photo two was of a ball python, very skinny, living in a 20L tank. One hide, tiny water dish, and was on what appeared to be some sort of sand or something, it almost looked like black potting soil. No heat lamp and who knows if there was a UTH.
Third picture was two corns (one adult sized, one that looked to be a young adult/older juvies but who knows how they were being fed and how big they should have been) living in a 40gal, heat lamp with what looked to be just a plain old lightbulb in it, and on some sort of dirty, vile repti carpet. Two hides, a bowl for a water dish, no greenery or anything in the tank.

But, then in the last photo, it showed the BTS' enclosure and it was set up beautifully!!??

I don't understand how someone could put so much time, effort, and research into helping one creature but then basically tossing the rest in whatever they had laying around! They did an amazing job on the skink but the rest of their animals were living in utter agony..

I usually sit on my hands when I see ads like this but I couldn't help myself. I started my email by praising the work they did with the skink, but then politely transitioned to the fact that they were basically killing the rest of their animals and that they should likely help their own pets before they start trying to rescue others. I got a very nasty email in return but I left it at that as I figured there's no point in arguing with someone who is too ignorant to fix the problems anyways.

Ugh. Humans disgust me sometimes..

correct me if im wrong, but don't water dragons need a fairly large enclosure? I was looking into getting one and was told they need one about 4ft tall/2 ft wide/2ft deep. and I've never heard of keeping frogs in with them?!

How... how do they have 14 critters (plus 2 bettas) living in that ONE tank??????

And the tank doesn't look all that big, either! How sad!

And I added up the price of the items quoted and came up with just over $350, plus say an extra $150 for the plants and hides and skulls and things, but that is still only $500, and the animals are free. They want $800. What am I missing? Not saying it isn't worth it broken down, but aren't you supposed to make us think we are getting a great deal? "I bought the tank for $100, you can have it for $200!"

I actually did reach the guy over text. The tank is a 40 gallon. Ugh! And there's at least one wild caught native fence lizard in there in addition to what's listed. He actually deleted the ad (which... I'm rather annoyed at photobucket for deciding not to show the screenshot, lol!) and put up a new ad... Just a list of the animals and some individual pictures. No mention at all of the cohabbing. I guess he must have gotten a fair bit of hate mail. lol.

I truly hope every animal gets a good home. Did he relist them with prices or is it all still a package deal?

Not craigslis but gumtree - but I jsut saw an ad for a male royal, 1400gs for sale for as low as £30... just mentioning cos that seems like a ridiculously low price to me!
