Oh, Craigslist...

Gah... And it looks like its back has been burned or chewed on, too... :(

Oh this poor baby :( I know (hope) he is in a feeding bin, but look at his skin :( I hate people.

Hopefully that $50 goes to English lessons! Poor baby, and that boa in the 10 gallon. I hate people too. :fullauto:

Poor thing. That looks like it must feel horrible. And sorry but how do you not have enough time for a snake... Apart from the time it takes to feed/other miscellaneous small things, they're one of the least time consuming pets you could have...

That is why I do what I do. Every "rescue" I have done is someone who is bored with it. I have gotten some of the greatest snakes from my rescues, and even though they don't show emotion, I hope that they are happier than they ever have been.

At least losing interest would be more honest...

There was a thread here that I can't find or else I read it somewhere else, it was an ad for a lizard of some sort, the woman's daughter was bored with painting its toenails.

The pets section of Craigslist here in Elko sucks! There's like one new ad every 5 days. I miss Phoenix Craigslist!

Ok so this isn't a craigslist ad, BUT, I had to post it here anyways.
My jaw literally dropped and I exited the app because I would have been a little rude. Talk about irresponsible owners. SIX CORNSNAKES IN ONE TANK!! But it's okay. They cuddle all the time. *smh*

The worst part is, she CLEARLY knows it's frowned upon and thinks it's funny!!

"(and let the comments fly lol)."

Like, are you kidding?! It's people like THIS, who have no respect for their animals or their care, that make the rest of us and the hobby look bad.

I keep on reading it and it's just not making sense. My biggest corn is just a few hairs shy of 6 feet. My second biggest is 5.5 feet long. They are respectfully in a 55 gallon tank and a 70 gallon tank, and they fit GREAT. I couldn't imagine having another snake in there. Now yes 120 gallon is bigger, but 6 snakes bigger? And it sounds like she's not adverse to introducing more snakes into the tank as long as the size is close to the others. smh

Yes, exactly. I just picked up a 200gal for my SINGLE cornsnake. It's an absolutely massive tank, but I couldn't imagine putting more than two snakes in it, and if I did it would ONLY be after the tank was split in half so they didn't have access to each other. In my opinion, a full grown corn needs a 55gal (or more) in order to have enough space to adequately move around and find a temperature zone of their liking. I can't imagine how crammed those six snakes must be, and like you said, it definitely doesn't sound like she minds adding even more to it.
Not to mention, she said it was a cube tank. Cornsnakes aren't arboreal snakes (well, mine isn't at least lol), how is all that vertical space going to help them at all?

See it's all good until it turns bad. I would hate to have one of those I told you so moments, even for an instant. I always use the analogy that you wouldn't hand a baby a loaded gun with the safety on, that's just crazy. The baby probably wouldn't shoot itself but why take the chance. Pretty much the same thing. Nothing may happen, but why have more pets than you can safely ensure their proper care?

Which one is sick, which one regurged, who got who knocked up (cause mis sexing NEVER happens), too small to breed...oh my the list goes one.

Oh that is sick. Again, someone who can hear everything about how bad it is and why all day long, and at the end of the day not remember a word of it. Ugh. The poor snakes.

Agreed. I mean, they get stressed enough when they're cohabbed with ONE other snake, and these ones are competing woth FIVE others! They must be ready to pull out their metaphorical hair hahah.

Oh yeah, I wasn't too thrilled reading it either. Like I said, I actually exited the facebook app and even put my phone down. I actually felt my eyes bug out of my head when I originally read it. If it wasn't on a page I rather enjoy and don't want to be removed from, I would have let the comments fly just as she was expecting. Believe it or not, as of a half hour ago, NOBODY has even said anything to her about it...

^ This is all also why I didn't bother removing her name or profile photo from the screenshot I uploaded. As has been said, clearly she doesn't care. So in turn, I don't really care if everyone learns her name and refuses to sell her a snake again. I'd feel horrible if I sold someone a snake and later found out that they do this sort of thing...
