Anybody from a city in ohio that's near Canton?
I hope so =/ I'm trying to get an idea of where to look near canton for some snakes, I can't find anything at Atwood or Sippo lake...

We don't have the money to drive to it... We might be going to a one in Akron the 27th of December -.-'. See, if i was just a year older... I'd go by myself. lol

I'm in E Canton! Basically the boonies and there are a lot of wooded wet areas around here. We always have garters on our property and an over abundance of bull frogs and american toads. Not to mention our giant snapping turtle in the pond. Just start driving down some of our back-country roads and find a place to pull over and head into the woods.

I saw your post about the reptile show! If you want to come look at what I have for sale( I'm in Canton) before anything gets sold at the show you're more than welcome.

ps) for field herping I would try to find/look around some smaller ponds, as opposed to the bigger lakes. Plus the further South you can get the more variety you'll find. Nimisilla reservoir has some nice ponds around it with snakes!

I really don't know, I'm trying to find wild snakes because I don't have any money what so ever for a snake, even if it was 5 dollars >_>.

Oh yeah?!? Well I'll bring my snakes to Canton so you can see them before you get to Kyles! (just kidding!)

Kyle,
I won't be able to make it down Saturday. We just found out Monday that my daughter has her 1st volleyball game at 9 and my son's 1st soccer game is at 10:30, I wouldn't get there till around 2.

Only have about 6 left anyway and two of them started out eating like champs, 4 times in a row and have refused ever since, it's got me completely stumped!! :shrugs:

Good luck vending Saturday!

(more Ohio riff-raff...lol)

OK D, thanks, Just one question:
How many of my snakes are you going to buy?
lol

i just moved to macedonia from buffalo ny. so im not to sure of the area. but i think i seen macedonia on the map near canton or something. i just find them in my yard. just lil ones. a good trick to finding them is find something near a small pond with overgrown grass. take some plywood or anything for a snake to hide under that will push the grass down. leave it for a couple weeks and check it every so often. just be quick when you flip it over, most young garters are quick as can be. and the northern browns are usually pretty slow for me. and not aggressive at all. only 2 species ive seen since i been in ohio so far. and northern browns were just introduced to me this year herping for the last time with my buddy before i moved.

Sounds cool.
Macedonia is up by cleveland, about 2-4 hours away from me in canton :(.
I think your finding more snakes because your near lake erie.

If you don't have the money to drive to a show. And you don't even have 5 bucks to get a snake. Then you don't need a snake at this time. How will you afford to keep it alive and healthy?

Food is going to be anywhere from 2 dollars to 3 dollars a week for a corn. 2 to 6 dollars for a boa that you posted interest in.

A undertank heater, tank, substrate, waterbowl, hides, lid, thermostate, tempgun/tempgauge and whatnot will run well over 50 bucks.

A wild caught snake that needs to see the vet to check for problems is going to run at least 100 bucks if he has anything at all.

The smallest cost in owning any animal is the actual animal itself. If you can't afford that you have NO business owning the animal. You already have one wildcaught animal...sounds like a good place to stop.

And as we have tried over and over to tell the youth of this board. You need to realise that these are animals that will live 20 years sometimes. They can't usually go with you to college and even with wildcaught, once kept in your home they can never be returned to the wild so you have a lifetime commitment. What do you plan to do with them when you grow old enough to move out of your parents? Dorms don't allow snakes...nor do many apartments.

Enjoy what you have now and be satisfied with it. It's not a race. You can have all the snakes you can safely afford when you are an adult in your own household, paying your own bills.

I see where your going with this.
I have cages that I've seen at the edge of a road, washed out and perfectly fine.
I'm stating that the money I have is allowance, and I barely get any of it because my parents are laid off.
I can handle the snake I have now.
I catch minnows and other fish at a local pond and at the stream in my backyard.
