Okay...I really have to re-evaluate this..

Hooked for life!!
I have good news..followed by bad news..followed by good and then bad again....

Good News:

Maize is now 57 grams!! I am so proud of that..I never thought she had gained that much from the last time I weighed her..(which was QUITE a few months ago..This means she can now take hoppers..yay!!!

Bad News: I have no idea where to get hoppers..the petco and petsmart near me only sell: pinkies, fuzzies, adults, and then go onto rats..no hoppers..now what do I do??? I've been feeding her 2 fuzzies each feeding but I know she should be getting hoppers around 9 to 12 grams..

Good news: Striker is a whoppng 147 grams!! I am very happy about this for it does shown he has grown..which means he should be eatting weaned mice from 14-20g...stange thing..when I bought Striker I bought a bag of what I was told were I think 50 or 100 full grown mice...Strker has eatten those since day one and now he is able to easily digest 2!! :shrugs: :shrugs:

Bad News: I took one of the mice from the bag I have and weighed it (it was frozen when I weighed it don't know if that would matter..) either way..the thing came out only 9 grams...I took another...8 grams..I took another...7 grams..the largest I found was 9 grams..those things are only weighing the size of what Maize should be taking in..I'm guessing I should start feeding these light weight "so called ADULT mice" to Maize..and I might just start buying Striker bigger gram food..no wonder he seems to always be looking for more even after eatting 2...poor guy..any suggestions on the proper size for him?? They say adult mice..but the adults I have are wayyy to light weight..I think the guy might have sold me a bag of hoppers...I dunno..he assured me several times that they were full grown...any words of advice? Should I start feeding maize the light weight mice?

Your bag of "adults" are the weight of fuzzies, and should be just fine for your 57 gram snake. Your other snake should be eating larger meals, around the 20 gram mark, which are "small" adult mice.

Feed 3.

Our pet corns get wayyyyyy more food then their fellows in the wild. And they do fine on it. So unless your corn is underweight don't fret. Overfeeding is a much bigger issue then underfeeding. If he ain't skinny your feeding scedule is just fine. He'll get to adulthood just like the rest.

It really sucks not being able to find the size mice you want. I would love a bag of mice that weigh 12-16 grams. Most of my snakes are pinheads- milk, kings, tri-hog- that can't eat the size mouse a corn can. Baby Lila can eat a bigger mouse than Choco who is nearly twice her size! I gave Zee a very small adult and it took him nearly an hour to get it down. Of course, he had to envenomate it for 20 minutes, and then he butt-munched it, but still...

You can never really go by whatever size the store or feeder breeder calls them. They are invariably underweight. I've bought "large adult" mice that were all 16-19g instead of the expected 25g or so.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer breeding my own feeders and weighing them all before feeding.

Thank you for the advice..I'm gonna try and feed Maize of the hopper sized mice on her next feeding..I'm kind of nervous and excited since this will be another step up for her..even though I know she will probably take it just fine..For Striker's next feeding..I'm gonna go out and see if I can find a proper adult sized mouse for him..thank you all again :0)

Great News!!

Well feeding day arrived and Maize took the new sized mouse just fine..She seemed to love it more then she loved the fuzzies..Either way I was very happy she took it so willingly...I coudln't find the time to go out and buy a full adult mouse for Striker since my job decided to work me like a horse and then some..So I fed him 2 of the smaller sized mice..both in the end weighing up to a total of 18 grams..which is pretty close to what he should be getting..I'm very proud of both of them for being such good feeders..I can't find my digital camera but I did take some shots with my cell phone..I'm gonna go thorugh the pics and see which ones are good to post..but I'm gonna be putting the pics in the photo section of the forum..thanks for the help everyone :0) :grin01: :grin01:
