Hahaha. I was just Joshin ya. She does some great work with that computer though. I know what ya mean about the other half making up for stuff. My ex-other half used to be the one that was good at stuff like not spending all the money that we needed. Now that she ain't around look what happened. I've got a zoo in my room. :)

I know what happens.. I get lost etc.. *lol* I guess our ( T and J's ) depiction is not necesarily a good one. I seem to find my self in the middle of some discussions about this. Some changes will be on the way for the illistration some unfortunantly the link will be invalid sooner than later.. Then I will repost the correct terminology for what I have up so there is "less" confusion about the Abbott..

Regards

What do I have here? Came from Naples Florida at a pet store. I ordered Okeetee, which type Okeetee is it? Right now it's saddles look blood red or some look deep brown.

You can't really tell motley without looking at the belly, IMO.

Anyway I'm not good at this when they are that young. All I can do is post pictures of my own Okeetee

Here he is as a baby

They change so much from their baby colors it can be tough to tell until they have had a few sheds. This is just my opinion. He has some nice borders which is encouraging, but more than likely time will tell.

I'm going to be upset if I didn't even get what I had ordered. I ordered this corn snake from Big Apple Herps....their website. Even the plastic dish had the "Okeetee" sticker on it that it arrived in. I even emailed them to make sure I would be getting the color markings I wanted because I don't know what the hatchlings look like.

Thank you very much for your help. I'm hoping someone in this forum has a snake full grown that looks like mine when it was a hatchling.

I would say okeetee too... those borders are thick.. as he grows older the yellow you see in spots now will spread over the whole snake and become reddish/orange.. take pictures and you will see the colors change from month to month.. My reverese okeetee was white and red.. now they are turning orange and it's spreading on their bodies.. it is an amazing transformation..

That baby could be an Okeetee. It's hard to tell, without seeing the parents. The orange really comes in later, but the black borders are there from the start.

Thank you for the replies. I can't really tell if the saddles are burgundy or brown because the lighting plays tricks. I hope burgundy.

They will turn more red as he gets older. You can see in the pictures I posted on my okeetee that his blotches were burgundy/brown but now have become much more red.

I'll echo what Nanci said.. looks like it does have the potential to be a nice Motley, but you'll have to wait to see how it starts to turn out.

Keep in mind that corns change a LOT. My rule of thumb usually is the uglier the baby the better they turn out as adults. It DOES look like your snake has some nice saddles hidden in there. Okeetees go through HUGE transformations as they grow. They generally do look pretty plain and un colorful when they are young.

Also, the big debate that T and J was referring to is snakes that LOOK like Okeetess, that have been bred to have thick black borders and very bright colors VS. snakes that actually originated from the Okeetee Hunt club. Snakes that are locality based generally will demonstrate the bright colors and black borders, but it's not guaranteed.

So basically you have Locality Okeetee vs. Lookatee. I'd say that the Lookatees at this point are much more common, and when people refer to "Okeetee" they actually mean Lookatee. Unless Big Apple specifically stated that your snake was a locality line it's most likley a Lookatee.

Also one last thing. This snake is in no way at all or even possibly a Motley. Just to clear that up. Saw someone post their speculation earlier.

I'm sure there's still tons of information / debate on the archives of the forum (not sure how far it goes back). Search for Lookatee, Okeetee Hunt Club, that sort of thing. Good luck and keep us posted!! Your baby looks promising.
