Ooey Gooey Caramel

Both Ripley and Rio shed this week so decided to take both of them outside today for photos.

Ripley is an '06 Caramel Motley male that I picked up from Homegrown Herps back in July. I am working hard to get this guy growing as he has a future date with Mike's amber girl Sienna (as well as my Rio). I love how his color is changing with every shed, getting lighter and more yellow. I am usually not really big on the yellow color, but with caramels (and the yellow that shows up on some anerys and ghosts) I actually like it...

And then here is my little Rio...I picked her up from a local breeder at a show in October. She is also a caramel and her color is just starting to change. This shed was the first time I noticed the browns lightening up and the yellow starting to peek through.
This is only the 2nd time I have taken her out for photos as she is still a little flighty. She was so funny about it...she was almost like a wire toy snake...I could pose her and she would just stay there and not move until I reposed her again. Although every time I would put my hand in to move her she would flatten her head at me....

I was losing the light when I took these so her color looks a little darker than in person...

I have to agree with Dean... if I could find one like her, I'd be tempted to add a caramel to my recently started collection

I love the color change

I love the second snake Rio. The color changing is definately noticeable, and very beautiful. I didn't see any caramels at my reptile expo in northern va on the 9th so was pretty dissapointed. Almost bought a rainbow boa, but the breeder was not very knowledgeable and I don't trust breeders like that. The camera techniques you use are very good as well. Definately keep posting updates on Rio, I'd be very interested in the snake's development.

I need to buy a photo tree

We used to have a great one that was actually in our neighbors yard. The house was unoccupied so we would use it all the time. Then new people moved in and they trimmed the tree down considerably including our "snake pic" branches which totally sucked! I have had to make do with the crappy bush in the front yard and I just don't like it as well, but I guess it works for now!

I have to agree...this is the first shed where I have even seen any hint of yellow poking through.

I like the crappy bush! All I have is a baby magnolia that I'm afraid a snake could knock a leader bud off of, and a weird little oak. I wonder if the babies could climb right in the bark of the pine like Maizey can...
