• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

Other North American Snakes

Breaking up the General ChitChat forum into subforums has already been discussed. Personally, this is cornsnakes.com. If you want specific forums on other types of snakes or critters, go see FaunaClassifieds.com.

That discussion was a year and a half ago, and it concerned subforums. I am suggesting a new forum, on the same level as "Feeders", "Behavior" or "Photography Techniques and Equipment". Fauna is a general purpose pet site, and it has its good and bad points. It isn't as informative as CS.COM, nor is the general membership of as similar mind as is here.

No one is required to subscribe to a particular forum or to read it. Those who aren't interested in it can ignore it. I do, however, think there is significant interest, and significant benefit to be found in, a forum about snakes closely related to corn snakes. What information there is currently available here gets lost among the vast array of threads in "General Chit-Chat". We have a forum about feeders, but this isn't mice.com. We have a forum about photography, but this isn't kodak.com. I don't think having a forum about other North American snakes closely related to corn snakes is going to turn this into gophersnake.com.

Those jumbo nightcrawlers? Excellent bait for sturgeon, stay on the hook real nice like. :grin01:

Jax, you know you're wrong brother.. But funny! :grin01:

But to the point. I also like the idea. I like you guys. I just don't want to go to another forum, period! I post mostly in the general chitchat, but would like to see a "other snakes" or even "other herps" forum. If it was other North American snakes I think it would be too specific.

Bottom line this is a corn site- we don't need a lizards forum AND a python forum AND a frog forum etc, but one that was a little more all-encompassing to other herps (without my commentary on apple stock :grin01: ) would be very cool indeed.

We have a forum on Feeders because they are an integral part of keeping cornsnakes. We have a forum on Photography because that is THE biggest forum on the whole site, with a subforum to help members take better photos. North American Snakes if a very broad topic (and is not limited to just those closely related to cornsnakes) and, IMO, does not rate its own forum in a site for cornsnakes. I wouldn't mind if the General ChitChat forum was broken into a few subforums so people don't have to wade through all the clutter to find what they want. But then again, the search function can eliminate that problem for you...
