Pragmatic & Logical
And I honestly CAN'T understand that people are NOT concerned - I just don't get it. Yes, there may come a time when average people finally revolt and say ENOUGH. But when children are raised with certain expectations and beliefs, it is normal for them. The children now are being raised with a different set of ideas about what is normal for freedom, and what is normal government intervention in their lives. They will not be surprised that the government may monitor their every movement by cameras on roads, buildings, etc, or by GPS units in cars and cell phones. It alarms ME, and many people my age. But it will be normal for the next generation to expect government intervention in most aspects of their lives. And the generation after that can expect more. This is about way more than just keeping reptiles, although that freedom is important to me. I don't care WHAT freedom I am being asked to give up - I want to know why, and how it will benefit me or those I care about. I don't want to give up freedoms lightly. They tend to slip away over time, and it becomes very normal to expect the government to take care of us, and police us, in every aspect of our lives. I can understand the decision to give up a freedom presently enjoyed for a reallly clear and important benefit. But I can't understand the lack of concern in the trends I see towards more government and less privacy and less freedom.
