Hey guys! i was just wondering, can you take corns, and pretty much any snakes, outdside and let them crawl around on the ground? I live in the hot southern California desert region and obviously i wouldnt take my corn or bp out and lay them out on the concrete during midday but maybe like in the early evenings(when its not dark) take them out to our grass lawns for a few minutes? We also do not use HEAVY pesticides and i do not think we have a problem with mites or ticks(since it gets 110ish everyday during the summer).

Tell me your thoughts/experiences because im very curious to see if its ok as i feel my snakes would like to once in a while ;)

I take mine out in the grass sometimes. It's a good place if they're about to get rid of that last mouse they ate, plus the activity (or being outside?) usually gets her to let loose anyway.
I'm not sure how stressed she is by the new surroundings but she'll try to keep cruising around and rarely stays still out there.
Mainly just watch out for too much sun, and potential hides.
And hawks.

It depends. if your snake is jumpy and fast, then its not the best idea.
I tried to let my snake crawl on the grass, but he quickly tried to burrow undergrownd, and I told myslef "never do that again!" Im going to try it when the snake gets older. But for now, I just take him outside and keep him on my hands. :D

Here in Tennessee, our grass tends to grow in such a way as snakes can easily go "under the carpet". If I lived in a different area I might try it.

oh ok haha. mine is a little over a year old and so i think i might try it tomorrow morning(if i wake up early enough!) before i feed him and i dont think he'll run away(i hope) because normally he is a very chilled out snake.

I take my adults outside for adventures when it is neither too hot nor too cold. I wouldn't dare take one of the 09s who are still fast & crazy, or the babies who are tiny, fast & crazy, but everyone else, yes.

I think the enrichment is good for snakes. I love taking mine outside and letting them climb in our small tree or in the grass on a sunny day. I really don't have a problem with my current snakes trying anything too crazy (I'll hold my breath with the new hateling.)

I'm waiting until my little girl is larger before I try this. She can still really book it sometimes, and is small enough that a mad grab for her might hurt her.

oh good thoughts, i have taken my snake out before but on my hand but i guess ive always just been a little leery of parasites and whatnot but i did take him out and set him on the grass for like a minute lol before his feeding today. ill try again next week and see how he does! do you guys think that he is too young/small if he is a little over a year old and is now about 3 feet long? i mean he doesnt have any crazy desires or excape plans(i dont think) haha

I think he will be fine. Watch out for hawks. Most of mine like it if I sit on the ground and they can go out- explore, then come back to me. I wouldn't worry about parasites at all.
