People smarter than I, who know kings and milks...

Well, I believe it's an escapee. Did he try to feed it? If it ate a pink, then it's not a Scarlet.

I do believe that's a scarlet! I've never seen an albino, but the pattern and red nose pretty much give it away.
Oh Nanci, they will take rodents sometimes. They're not preferred like lizards, but that wouldn't be an accuate litmus test to determine species.

Well, I know they eventually will take a rodent, but right off the bat for their first meal after being caught?? Whereas if it's an escaped pet, he'd be like, finally! Pinks!! It would be cool if there were some belly pics. And a head close-up. Chip, are there known albino scarlets??

I googled albino Scarlets.....

and found where this gentlemen had posted on several sites. He does say he broke an egg and the snake lapped up the yoke. I'm gonna follow up on this and see if I can get a look at this snake. Upon futher review it sure does look like a Scarlet. What amazes me, is how long it may have survived in the wild.

I use to find scarlett snakes in north carolina all the time. from the way the head looks it might be a scarlett. you should try to get more pictures if possible. Ive gotten scarletts to eat pinkies but it takes some work. I hope it is an albino scarlett , I would definetly keep some of those in my collection. Nice find by the way. What are you planning on doing with the snake?

Rick

I've seen....

albino Northern Scarlets, but not one from Florida. There is a guy in Houston, I believe works for the zoo, who is a Scarlet guy.

I think it's real....

you know after looking at those pictures.. i can not tell, heck is it even a real snake?

but at first I thought it was two different snakes. One snake looks bigger than the other to me, or maybe two different people with different size hands were holding it.

In any event I have left the poster several messages. I'm sure I'm only about an hour or two away from him. I would like to see that snake up close and personal.;)
