Hi guys, sorry to be a nuseince and ask a question that I'm sure probs been asked a thousand times. I'm getting myself so stressed about how much Flakes should be eating. I have had him a little over a month he seems a healthy happy and relaxed ickle fellow. He has shed once (A week after I got him and is now just gone clear after a blue so expecting a shed within next day or so.) I have just weighed him and he is 20g and 17inch long. pinkies are weighing in at 2g each so I have been feeding him 3 every 5days. As i say he is growing nicely even though the breeder said he is a year old he does seem very small compared to some of the snakes I have seen on here at a year. Any advice would be much appreciated
Oh p.s I have looked at the much used Munson plan and would like to follow that as everyone on here seems to rate it highly.
i have added a pic so you can see his size but he does look slightly bigger in this pic than he actually is.
also he is due for feeding today shall I leave him until he has shed or just feed him as normal.

wow, if he is a year old, and he has 17inch long, IMO he is small,,,but if his appetites just find, and his behaviour just normal i think you shouldn't worry about it :)

maybe the breeder was wrong about his age :)

I never weighing my pinkies but i think from his height,2 pinkies are OK,,dont give him too much, i'm afraid he will regurgitating his food :(

There can be a great amount of variance in "yearlings", especially when you compare one hatched in March and one hatched in September. How the breeder fed the hatchlings can also account for a large difference in size. I also have several '06 hatchlings that are only 14-20 grams right now. Just keep your snake on the Munson plan and once it gets past the 20-30 gram mark, you'll really see it gain some weight!
 
Thanks for the advice guys it really does help to stop me being an over anxious mummy but my Flakes is my baby. Who wouldve thought I could love a snake this much. Even my dog likes him lol :crazy02:

A member on this board (TriggerHappy101) and I both have snakes from the same breeder, born on the same date to the same parents.

About 1 month ago, Mr. Icky, his snake was 60+ grams while mine, Roxanne, was 28+ grams.

I don’t know where Mr. Icky is right now, but Roxanne just tipped the scales at 35+ grams. Her last 4 meals have been larger, double pinkies.

Tomorrow night, I’ll be moving her up to fuzzies for the first time and have been told that they really start packing on the weight then.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Flakes, as Roxanne has always been active and alert since I received her in February even though she might be considered small.

You can see if he wants to eat when he's blue- some do, some don't. If he doesn't, then next time just hold off feeding till after he has shed. You might want to just thaw one, just in case.

Correct my if I'm wrong but if he's eatting 3 2gram pinkies shouldn't he be able to be eatting a fuzzy now?
 
Yes very true I still have lots of pinkies left. however this wasn't the only reason I was feeding him pinkies still. I thought he would still struggle with a fuzzie. (maby not struggle but could eat the pinkie easier for a while) am I doing wrong & should I change him to a fuzzie. Thanks for the input guys
