Pooping and Eating at the same time?

Ayidah

Last week I gave Ayidah two fuzzies and a few days after feeding her I gave her a bath as always to help her go to the bathroom. Today, a week after her last feeding I gave her a fuzzy and let her eat it in peace because she was stressed when I was looking at her. When I came back the fuzzy was gone, but I found some dark stinky goo in her feeding tub. I am confused because I thought she had already pooped her meal from last week. What was that about? Could it be that eating made her poop again? Was she constipated before?

Possible that she didn't get it all out the first time. Also possible that the two fuzzies traveled through the digestive system at moderately different intervals. Most likely the first possibility though.

Snakes can poop more than once per meal. And some just like to go in their feeding bin. Make sure you clean the bin with 10% bleach or 25% ammonia, and rinse well.

Is there any specific reason why you are soaking her all the time to make her go?
Soaking your snakes once in a while is generally okay, but once a week?? That doesn't seem healthy. It can strip away a lot of their oils.

Glad to know that it is normal for snakes to go more than once to the washroom after a meal. AliCat, I did not know snake had skin oils! :) Good thing I never washed her with soap even after she goes through her own poop. I let her swim in her tub (with a rock in the middle for her to rest) once a week because in the past she would just not go to the washrooms at all for over a week when I would not do it. She seems to get constipated easily because she is still shy to go out and about in her viv when I am home. When I get home after she already went out, I also often find her soaking in her water dish and that is also where she would "choose" to poop herself. Since it seemed to be what she would naturally do in her viv when she has the "courage" to get out, I chose to do it for her. Do you think I should only do it ever 2-3 weeks instead? I cleaned it with some bleach, yes.

Just wanted to emphasize the "OR" in your answer just in case someone reads it to quickly :)

My snakes definitely don't go once a week! Haha. My corns usually go every other week or less for the boys. My ball python on the other hand... Generally he only goes every couple of months. Snakes aren't like mammals, they don't poo nearly as often. As long as you don't see a large build up by the cloaca, I wouldn't call her constipated!
