Preisdential Debate

I voted party-lines last time and I think that's a horribly blind way to go; I won't be making the same mistake again.

Uh, just why is voting party lines a horribly blind way to go? It actually makes perfect sense.

You align yourself with a particular party because your views for the most part are in line. You have the same or very similar ideological viewpoints on most major key issues. It makes zero sense to be aligned with a particular party and then to turn around and vote for someone of another party in any election. I suppose if you're not sure which party you belong to, but most of us have very strong political beliefs.

But again, you also have people who vote for say a Republican President and a Democratic Congresss.....why, I have no idea. Makes absolutely no sense. Apparently they like to create gridlock.

I never said that I WAS voting... Also if you know YOUR facts you will know that Obama converted to Christianity from being a MUSLIM... sorry If I confused indonesia with afghanistan... either way it is still an eastern country... Personally I DO NOT blieve A WORD THE BIBLE SAYS, Man created the Bible and it has been translated for thousands of years meaning that many many things were lost over the years...

Befor anyone gets mad at me again for making a few statements... I am probably not voting this year because the ONLY GOOD CANDIDATE (Ron Paul) will not be running... Next time read my entire post instead of just the obama bashing... if you noticed I bashed mccain to...

thanks in advance

Would you list the factors that one should be informed upon before being allowed to vote? (Me? I think everyone should read the Federalist Papers before voting
QUOTE]

I actually read the Federalist papers and the anti-Federalist papers in US hisstory last school year, and wrote a brief paper to summerize/explain them, I made an "A" on that paper...

I am a Diest by the way, I believe that their is a GOD but he/she does not care about us on a personal level, and I dont care what religion our president is beause more then likely the god doesnt care about us PRAISING them, if there even is a god...

So everyone who was bashing me, relax and calm down.

> It makes zero sense to be aligned with a particular party and then to turn around and vote for someone of another party in any election.

I don't know. I'd rather the Republican stance on the 2nd amendment, but the Democratic stance on some research funds. Republicans are more inline with my beliefs when it comes to capital punishment, but I like the Democrats stance on the ESA. There is NOTHING wrong with picking a candidate based on his/her individual voting records and ignoring their party affiliation. Find me a candidate that supports the 2nd amendment, medical research, lowered welfare payments, and the other things I believe in, and I will vote for them no matter WHAT party they claim to be a member of. Both parties suck, IMO.

> But again, you also have people who vote for say a Republican President and a Democratic Congresss.....why, I have no idea. Makes absolutely no sense. Apparently they like to create gridlock.

It makes perfect sense to me. I'm a libertarian at heart. The best .gov is the smallest .gov. A split federal government produces the fewest laws - and especially the fewest STUPID laws. If the 2 main branches only agree on the stuff that seems REALLY necessary/feasible/viable (this is a pipe dream, but.....), I'm glad if they don't agree on the useless unnecessary laws out there. It is not anything like a "gridlock," but it does reduce in fewer new laws....and THAT is what I feel is best for the country.

By the way, I didn't do it. I voted pretty close to a party ticket in all of the last elections. The only exception would be when there was a GOOD person running from the opposite party or the libertarian had even a slim chance of winning. Plus, I did vote for Kinky. I'll do it again, too!

Good for you. Here's a cookie......lol. This is, however, my FIRST post to you. I never addressed anything of yours, so that wasn't directed at you. Sorry if you misunderstood me. Heck, it wasn't even directed at Dean. It was directed at an IDEA that scares me. Dean? I like him. He doesn't scare me at all......lol.

...and the one true god, the noodly master, only wants us to dress like pirates and not to throw calculators at witches. Remember that the one true heaven has a stripper factory and a beer volcano!

I never said that I WAS voting... Also if you know YOUR facts you will know that Obama converted to Christianity from being a MUSLIM... sorry If I confused indonesia with afghanistan... either way it is still an eastern country...

Why the hell does his religion matter? And where he lived before?
I agree with Alan, thank you for not voting.

haha no problem, both candidates suck, and well thats basically the reason for me not voting...

I did recently find out that Obama would Keep Abortion Legal, and would also sign the marijuana decriminalization bill... so if you smoke weed vote for Obama haha...

im still not voting.

Where are you finding your facts? I've read Obama's books and no where does he state he was Muslim (not that it matters, because I don't believe all Muslims are evil). Atheist yes, but Muslim, no. My problem is that you didn't misrepresent McCain (to my knowledge), but you provided erroneous facts about Obama.

You have the choice not to vote, but if you chose to do so, you should do so with the correct information. I am voting for Obama because I don't like the McCain's stance on certain issues. Personally, I wish Gore were running, but I do like Obama as a second choice. Environmental issues are one of my major concerns (along with reproductive rights and health care).

I am not, nor have I ever been, mad at you, I just wanted to clarify your "facts".

I said Mccain was not bright, and a war veteran which means he would want to continue the fight in iraq, and go into other countries...

They talked about how he studied as a muslim in school and everything on the news befor, did you also read in his books about how he used Cocaine and alcohol heavily when he lived in Hawaii?

McCain is a horrible candidate as well, he is very PRO WAR, If you read either one of their sites or anything you can see what is bad about both of them, or atleast what they say is bad about the other... hell I may vote for obama because of his Abortion laws and the Marijuana decriminalization bill, because people smoking weed shouldnt get in as much trouble as someone who killed someone...

-Daniel

Right, no misrepresentation there on McCain. It's opinion, and you have every right to have one. In fact, had you said you though Obama was a stupid liberal democrat who didn't know his a** from his elbow, I wouldn't have said anything either (I have no problem with people and their opinions even if I don't agree).

Obama actually used cocaine, marijuana and alcohol (even crack) while in Chicago as well. So yes, I am aware of the facts regarding that. I did read the books, as I said. I have no problem with you stating an actual fact, that's okay with me. But so far much of what you said has not been fact but fiction. But if you have sources backing you up on your previous statements please feel free to provide them, I like to know all sides of an argument.

McCain is not bright? And what in the world makes you think that because someone in a War vet that automatically means they're pro war?

What abortion laws are you referencing? You are aware that a President can't make laws, right? Perhaps you're aware of this huge court case...something like Roe v. Wade, I think maybe it had something to do with abortion. Nothing will change on the abortion front unless that decision is overturned....and that will not happen because of a President.

And last time I checked, smoking marijuana doesn't get you the same punishment as murder. Hell, less than a certain amount of weed is just a misdemeanor. I think you need to do some more research.

If you are prosecuted with intent to sell, and having fields of marijuana you can get a while in prison, where as someone convicted of assaualt or murder could get out befor you on parol...

It HAS BEEN STATED BY MCCAIN THAT HE IS PRO WAR, do you people not look at anything?!?!?!?!?

I guess the bible and religion is to touch of a subject for most of the people on this site, I honeslty should have never posted on this website because most of the people here refuse to believe that they are wrong even after I said I was wrong... Never did I even state either that I though muslims were EVIL or WRONG or any such thing, it is a common belief that the anti christ is an unknown person who whould come from the east... Im done posting in this thread beacuse so many people want to try and troll on me and what not...

I hope If I ever decide to breed snakes/geckos people dont go oh dont talk to that guy, he had a few wrong facts in a presidential debate, and we posted in a thread about a debate but didnt post anything about debating just bashing him.

-Daniel

Hah! I wish I were a little scarier, but unfortunately I think your lack of fear is appropriate. ;)

I thought you made a great point in your reply to me, KJ. I don't have a list of criteria that would qualify a person as informed enough to vote. I really should have made a more specific comment. I guess what I meant to write is that if you are politically informed solely from the chain emails sent to you by your crazy Aunt Gertrude, maybe you should sit out the next election. ;)

Ramen!

East of where? I'll never trust anyone from Rhode Island again! (Hope you're reading this, BETH/starsevol.) :grin01:

It's a common belief? Among whom? How many of the 6 billion people on this planet "believe" in this BS?
