Preparing For The Freeze

It is 29 degrees here at the moment. Low of about 9 tonight. I am with you, how do they stand it!?!?

I'm looking at subzero lows here tonight. While I hate winter, what keeps me here are beautiful summers where you don't have to escape to A/C by 9 a.m. ;)

regards,
NanookOfTheNorth

Made it through the night ok!! 57 burrow temp, 84 heating pad. I think I'll turn it back a little cooler this afternoon. It's 23F. Gotta warm up the truck!

Dale- really, it's only about 10F warmer her in the summer. Maybe 15. Mostly 80, 85, 90. Mostly cools down to 70 at night. I love not freezing- I probably only use the AC in my truck a couple times during the summer and that's only because I have a phone call.

Nanci, my friend was just talking to me last night about his torts, saying that they're actaully really fast when they want to be, and that they are great climbers. I was busting up thinking of a vertical tort. Thanks for providing me with an image! That really makes my day. :dancer:

Did you see that video I posted a couple weeks ago with the boxie doing tricks? They can really run! And think of the banks of a river or lake- all the fallen trees have turtles up in them- way up! They love to climb. The tortoises aren't quite as good as the boxies, but their pen has an overhang just in case!

Bah, its 18F in the DAY here and gonna get to about -5F in the next few weeks! Just in time for my camping trip! WooT!

Forgot to add;

Wow I never really knew they had to burrow and such for the winter! I think i'll stick to Degus and Corn Snakes! I might read up on the Torts though, now i'm curious!

You can have it! We'll be back up to 70F by Saturday!! Then the kids can go back outside.
