question about feeding....

ZoologyGirl

Under Tank Heather
I don't know if this belongs in feeders, or husbandry. I figure it's less about the actual feeders...and more about husbandry...so here it is.

Do I need to use an individual feeding tub for each snake? Or can I use the same tub (not at the same time of course)

I only have two snakes and I use the same feeding tub.
But....this could cause issue.
Your call!

I would use some kind of nontoxic cleaner between snakes, but I don't know that is has to be that way. I say this for those incases- like they have something that isn't airborne, but can transmit through contact instead.

Right now, since my corns are still small, I feed them in a little shoebox lined with paper towel. I have four, and they all eat out of the same box (seperately, of course!) :) But it's completely up to you with what you choose to do.

I only have two, but they both feed out of the same plastic critter carrier...I just run a baby-wipe through it after the first one...(of course I seem to have baby wipes readily available..) You could just wipe it down with a warm rag if you are worried about anything...

I use the same feeding tanks for a range of Corns. They get a wipe-over if there's any gory mess left over and a regular thorough disinfect and scrub. I've never had a problem that I could put down to one Corn being put off by the smell of the previous occupant.

I have a few feeding tubs, but not enough to feed the whole collection in one go, so the established corns get to share a feeding tub (not at the same time though), with a quick wipe out between snakes.

Any new additions to the collection get their own dedicated feeding tub, until they are out of quarantine and I am happy that they are healthy and thriving. :)

Mine all have their own bins. 20. I have a bunch of slow feeders, so they can just sit in their bins and take their time. Plus, I set everyone's bins out in the same place every time- that way I know I don't miss anyone! They _do_ share the same collander for weighing, and I wipe it out after any new snakes, and at the end of weighing for the evening, but I don't worry about the established snakes sitting in the same bowl.

I have exactly 1 separate feeding tub for each and every snake. Of course, I also have a separate tub for each of them for drinking, pooping, and living as well. ;)

Thanks guys! Since I will only be starting out with a couple it won't hurt me to have multiple feeding tubs. If I ever get a good sized collection going I may multi up on established ones.
