Question concerning travel with snake..

sandybunny

Bigger house=more snakes!
Hey guys, I plan on taking my corn to Columbia show tomorrow so Jeff can sex him for me. I am 1 1/2 hrs from the show. Anything I should know about before taking him on the road? I have a small carrier for him. I thought I would put some aspen in and put him in my purse so it will be dark and he can't see much movement. I am thinking of buying a female from Jeff, but I want to be certain mine is a male. Thanks! :)

Sounds fine. Make sure you offer fresh water as soon as you get home. I have no idea what the SC temps are like, but I assume you've taken that into account.

By the time we leave, the temps will be between mid '60s and lower '70s. The weather is getting cooler, but still fair. I figure in my purse, his temps will be pur temps, so nothing drastic. My hubby was trying telling me we could take his CHE and plug it into the dash, ext...I didn't think that was necessary. :)

As long as your not going off road in the mud and rivers... He/she will be fine.

:D

HA! We are traveling in my Toyota Minivan. No off road adventures. :laugh01:
I'm hoping hubby will let me pick up a lady friend, if Cheerio is indeed a male. Keeps your fingers crossed for me.
Thanks for the replies, I'm off to get a shower.

I would take a pillowcase, and either carry him in that (with the top knotted, and chek the corners for holes first!) or just have it with you in case he gets restless in his travel cage. Snakes feel pretty secure in bags.

I think he will be fine for that short of a time. I have driven snakes two hours ( in between Portland area and Eugene) with no heat and they were fine. If you are really concerned about the weather though, go to the grocery store and pick up a Therma care. They're little pads with an adhesive on the back of them. As soon as you pull off the strip to reveal the adhesive they heat up and stay heated for about 24 hours (they're meant for women who have cramps and are in an area where they can't plug in a heating pad).

Or just put him in a bag down your shirt...

Those Thermacares get hot- you'd want to stick it to the outside of his viv.
