hey yall. just a quick question for ya.
how thick shoiuld the layer of aspen be on the warm side of the tank? the tank is glass about half a centimeter to a centimeter thick. i currently have the layer pf aspen on the side at about a centimeter.
i just wanted to know if that sounds right or if it needs to be less because i herd aspen is quite a good insulator so harder to keep warm from underneath with a heat mat.

thanks in advance everyone.

ok thanks for the reply. ye i was thinking he would burrow but hes been in his new tank for about 3 weeks now with aspen in and he hasnt yet done any burrowing. lol maybe he just hasnt yet discoverd he can burrow.

I use 1.5-2 inches everywhere except over the heat, there I put just enough to cover the plastic, maybe 1/4"-1/2" so it's warmer without having to dig down much. They always move it around to suit themselves and usually end up with bare plastic under the hide.
