Raccoons!!!!!!!!!!

It's not like she tortured it,she did what she had to do to get rid of it.OH,the poor coon, give me a break :sobstory: I like city rats, house mice, bees and ants, but I bet a lot of you "cruel & mean" people kill them with poison, traps and sprays.Where do you draw the line of what is okay to kill.To me raccoons are way over populated disease carrying major pains in the a**.
Ah, these killing threads always get the most agitated posts. I will say that if what you are doing is motivated by hatred (as Nanci indicated was the case), then you have no recourse to rational justification for the action. We have these lofty egos we use to reflect on things, and when we really let go we have them come in to try to make it look proper afterwards. Our success or failure has no bearing on the original action, though.

Your actions stand on their own as a testament to who you are when you're talking about yourself. I was surprised at Nanci's vitriol as well, but there you are. The Nature out there that is not confined to our fake habitats has no concern for our plans or our creations, and we respond to that in different ways.

My folks live in a wooded area. Sometimes raccoons have come and explored the trash cans; we didn't fuss about it, there were no fowl about under our care. If they are as legion as you claim, then I guess your "solution" is pointless. If not, then you are ridding the area of another of its fauna. In any case, you sound like you fit into the Texas culture quite comfortably.

If someone else does something that is really truly wrong, then Karma will deal with it in the end. Everything balances out.
What the psychologists call a Just World Hypothesis. Most folks have it; I don't know whether it corresponds to anything in physical actuality, but I'd be happy to mull it over with people if some thread warrants it...

Geez, it happened 20 years ago. Give it a rest. I have managed to avoid/deter/not kill raccoons ever since. But I still don't love them. And I still swerve my truck to not hit one.

Which reminds me, why did the chicken cross the road?

To show the raccoon it _could_ be done.

Cuddly like snakes? :shrugs: You are suggesting that I expect some kind of behavior from them. Please to re-read paragraph 2, sentence 3. (All right, edit: [Considering your thoughts on mockingbirds as well, it sounds like country living is a pretty mixed bag by your standards.] I realize I had some users mixed up here and retract any Texas-oriented comments as off-topic but leave them up for the record) Anyway, you flatter me: there was no Disney Channel when I was growing up. And now, we don't have cable.

[I have many different impressions of Texas, by the way. Right now, I think of it as the state that gave us our current president. It was also the only state where I've ever gotten a warning instead of a ticket.]

 as well,

Mocking birds???????? :shrugs: I don't understand what your getting at with that one. We're about the same age and I used to watch Disney all the time when I was a kid,but your right there wasn't an offical Disney "channel' .Never been to Texas myself.

The way I see it, you can take care of the coons via drowning, trapping, shooting, relocating, etc, or you can just feed them every single night like my mom does  :bang:

I edited the original now. I thought you were someone else although I have no idea why. I guess the forum-section of my brain is full. Oh well.

Texas Tailfeathers is the one who doesn't like mockingbirds. Among many others. I love them! In fact I will trade one racoon for every ten mockingbirds.

Someone call The Law Offices of James Sokolove 800-275-0192 see if he handles hate crimes...I'll be down at the county jail posting Hawkin's bond.

Glad I haven't missed much, person has Raccoon problem, talks about Raccoon problem, someone doesn't like how he handles Raccoon problem, thread turns into the Middle East, people calm down and the Berlin Wall is torn down again. And repeat.
