Rack Recommendations?

I'm in desperate need of a rack system to house my ever-growing population of adults. I'm looking for something economical, as well as being able to hold 5-10 adult corns....

I can probably build one, but the time savings might be worth the extra $$ for me....

I used to build all of mine, but the material I found worked best for me had gotten VERY expensive to the point for not much more I could buy one. Take a look at the AP Economy line of racks. I bought two that held 10 32 qt tubs each or 20 15qt tubs.

Look under "economy plastics". They also have lots of different sizes of their economy racks that aren't on the site. you can email them about different sizes and what not.

I second the Animal Plastic Rack. I own one and yes they do make them in the size you want.
I sent an email this spring and they do build the AP Economy Plastics Rack in 6, 8 and 10 shelve units.
I have now seen other companies now start to do this but I think these guys are number 1 in the Economy Rack.

Nanci - now you've given me something ELSE to be jealous over....first the water garden...now this!

I have emailed AP....we'll see what they say. They need to update their site...I had no idea the "tall bin" racks were even available!!!

I didn't know either, I wrote to ask if they had 9" tall bins and they were like, sorry, no but we have 12" if you're interested in those. That was even better!!! I _think_ they were $240 each, shipped, with heat but without bins, which you buy at Target. Certainly no more than that. And I didn't end up using the lids- it was just too tight (I was worried that hatchlings could get out through the gap) I just made everyone trade spaces.

 I have to agree with Nanci. I just ordered my rack from AP on Monday. Their customer service was great. I got the same one Nanci has. I'm really looking forward to getting rid of some of my glass tanks finally.

I ordered 1 Animal Plastics rack & loved it so much when I needed a 2nd one I went with them again. They have excellent customer service both phone & email. Product was shipped securely packaged & everything well marked & easy to assemble.

I've since built several racks for myself, but the AP racks are miles more sleek looking than mine :) I'm considering buying another one soon myself.

Ok so I may be ordering this rack FINALLY! Has anyone had any experience with the "6/12" convertible rack? I like the idea of having a choice of using 15 or 32 qt tubs as the snakes grow. They told me they can make this rack in a 10 shelf high unit for $300 plus shipping. Now I'm debating which I need.....

I also found that boaphile is offering a Small Shoe Box Rack with 10 drawers for $199. This includes heat, tubs and shipping....making it very economical. Anyone have any experience with this rack?

I have two of the ones that you're talking about that are 10 high and hold 32/15 qt tubs. So far they're great. I'd recommend them.

And I think I've read somewhere that the Boaphile racks are pretty nice but that they take a long long long time on their turn around. But I may be making that up.

The thing with the small shoebox rack is, how long till the babies outgrow it? What then? Buy more babies? Try to find room for another rack to hold the adults? That's the trouble, if you have more than a couple snakes, with intermediate housing. It takes up room you could be using for permanent housing.

Good point....I was attracted to the smaller rack because of the price....the other is more expensive, but I think it will be better in the long run. PLUS...it will be able to hold nearly ALL of my corns.....

Oh I have designed many.....my issue is time....and buying one already made will save me a lot of time. The difference in price is justifiable to me because of the time I'll save.

I built one a little more than a year ago... there's a picture thread here somewhere. It's is definitely more functional than aesthetic, though.

I need another one. I have three corns in ten gallons still, and four unexpected snakey visitors taking up my rack.

I'm still weighing my options here...I've got an email in to animal plastics to see if by some MIRACLE they are vending at the reptile show here in October....if so I can save $60 in shipping!! WOO HOO!
