Reptile Carpet- anyone use it?

I am thinking of trying it after my "discussion" on the dragon forums. I am not convinced that it will be easy to clean, however, I am willing to try anything once. Before I do... does anyone use the cage carpet with snakes? Do you like it? How do you clean it??

I am thinking about trying it with new hatchlings this summer... but who knows, maybe I will try it with Hokie too.

Years ago.(atleast 10)before I knew anything about corns. We purchased a baby and had the carpet. I HATED it. I didn't know anything about different substrates or anything and thought taht was all ther was. It was hard to clean and was just nasty.

I'd be very hard pressed to ever use it again. But that's just my opinion. I'm sure there are people out there who have no problems with it. Hope this helps.

I hate reptile carpet. When your snake poos, it simply puddles up and is not absorbed at all. It will only dry over time, which means your snake can track it around the cage. It also allows any spilled water to pool in the tank, which I don't like, and it is a pain in the hind-end to clean. Plus...I have NEVER had reptile carpet that lasted for any length of time. If you clean it regularly, it falls apart, in my experience. I don't like the stuff one bit, but that is just my opinion...

I've used it eons ago. HATED it. I didn't like the way it looked, and it was disgusting and difficult to clean properly...

 Yeah... that is what I thought, too. It just doesn't SEEM easy to clean. Maybe I will just stick with good old aspen after all. It works for me and for many others. I like being able to take out the poo and a solid chunk of the substrate all around it. It makes me feel like I am getting rid of germs and nastiness.

Thanks for your opinions.

I'll just add my 2¢ and it pretty much echoes the sentiment of others. When I first started keeping corns forever ago I used reptile carpet. It was fine at first and looked nice but was a PITA to keep clean and then even after a while it just seemd like it would always be dirty and gross. I ditched it and switched to aspen and haven't looked back.
