Seriously...my mother has smaller chickens. This is a huge pigeon...and very tame. He stepped right up on my hand. We talked to Nanci of course to get hints and we are hoping for the best.
All the bleeding has stopped and it was not much blood thankfully...the only part that worries me was some blood coming from his nostrils. *sigh*
Lauren found him in the ally behind the house and some kids had been messing with it. She took him in at once. We have it isolated from our other birds and provided food and water, perches and newspaper flooring.
Such a pretty thing. He has no leg band but does seem domesticated. Not to mention the wild pigeons around here are half that size.

That's a seagull, you landlover!!! lol

You might want to talk to Katie about this.

You guys LOL

They like shelves more than perches. She might also like a large open box. Turned on its side.

Not a seagull, definitely a cat. Someone tarred and feathered it. Lol.

On a serious note, is it possible that it's bleeding only because of the kids messing with it?

She is goregous! I've never seen a pigeon like that.

Where else was she bleeding from besides her nostrils?

Under her left wing...which is drooping slightly.
She made it through the night and is looking good. She ate and drank too. I know I should not get my hopes up with birds, but it looks positive so far.

Oh, a less messy way to feed her is get a cardboard box, maybe like 18x18 or so and put seen on the bottom, then put her in the box to feed. That's what I used to do with Dill when he was free-flying- I'd have his feeding bin in the living room and he'd just drop in when he was hungry!

When you're sure she's okay, she would like a bath. Shallow, warm water up to her belly or a little deeper when she's standing. Very messy from splashing- you might like to let her bathe in your tub on a bath mat for footing.

She is a very pretty pigeon. I don't know what breed she is, but looking at the way her forehead just slopes down, it appears as though she may be what is refered to as a "fancy" breed and not a racing breed.
I hope she does well for you and good on you for saving her...:)

There is a breed called Giant Homer which would seem quite large compared to a feral pigeon. They are also poor flyers. If she's that, how'd she end up there, unless she walked away from home...

Really big thumbs up to you for being so caring of an animal many people would just...well, obviously this poor pigeon knows what rotten people are capable of:( Sounds like she is in very good hands! Best of luck, and hope to hear she is ship-shape very soon!:)

I had a giant homer named Big Red. And his mate was Razzle. They were so pretty. Very tame. Big Red's brother was a national champion.

I hope she turns out ok. I had little hope for my crow and he did well after I found him and took care of him. Your pigeon looks much, much better then he did so hopefully she will be okay as long as she doesn't have any internal injuries. She also looks like she would have been someones pet, I've never seen a wild pigeon like her.

She is still doing well. We've taken to calling her "Birdzilla." Oddly enough I cam home to find our two year old cavy, Reese, had passed away... no marks on her and she hadn't been sick. :-( RIP Reese.
