Rodent Feeder Suppliers - My observations..

Thank You Rodent Pro

I appreciate your reply.
As I stated in my earlier post the fuzzies looked pretty good so I just figured I had my usual bad luck and received a bad batch of hoppers.
They actually looked and smelled as if they died in the heat and were then frozen.
Now, I don't mind being fair so when I need more hoppers I will give you guys another try.
I hope they are in better shape next time.
I can't continue to buy inferior product.
I still have about half of them left so it may be about six weeks.

thanks

I agree with Jimmy...

I appreciate you taking the time to check out this thread. In all fairness, you needed to know it existed. I, too, am willing to give you guys another try.

I personally don't hold you responsible for the last batch of mice that were not satisfactory to me. I did not contact you before, so in my opinion, you are not responsible for replacing them.

Thanks!
Terri Manning

I thank you for responding also. I understand that you need to be notified when there is a problem and I should have done that.

I would like to give another order a chance. I just hope that the quality I was used to receiving is there and I don't have to request a replacement:)

Thanks again for taking the time to respond to this thread.

Another Big Cheese fan!

Just wanted to say that I've always ordered from BCRF and have never once been disappointed. The mice, no matter what size, are always clean and well-packed. There's always still dry ice in the container, so the mice have always arrived still frozen hard as a rock. Most importantly, the customer service is always top-notch. They respond to emails promptly, and they ship out exactly when they say they will. I wish all vendors had their work ethic and quality of product.

Man am I glad to have seen this!!!

Kevin Bryant is cruddy.
His wife is cool though.

I have known Kevin Bryant for years.
He used to be cool, but the money went to his head in a bad way!

He'll make good on sending out new orders to those that are not pleased.
He is very likely to send you crap in the future though.
He doesn't care.
Ultimatly, his customers are "product" just like his feeders in his eyes, a necessary evil to get money.

Kevin has questionable business ethic, I would direct anyone AWAY from rodentpro.

To Taceas: or anyone else local in the Evansville area (or is willing to drive)
Email me
I will get you in touch with an honest local breeder of mice and rats of all sizes.
He lives just outside Evansville.
He has NO PROBLEM with you picking them up at his place.

Geoff Stricker

Sorry Rich for ripping a sponser, but Kevin Bryant is not a very nice guy(anymore) once you get to know him.

I never even thought twice about contacting rodentpro.com about my last shipment...

First order I ever placed with them was impressive, 100pinkies vacuumed sealed, excellent condition.

Last order I placed 400 pinkies, 100 mice and some rats. The pinkie bags were zip locks and not vacuumed sealed. In addition, two of the bags had holes in them and pinkies spilled out all over the dry ice. I missed one in the box and it froze-decayed and smelled up my house....

Never even thought twice, their pinkies are typically EXCELLENT (i.e. no black bellies, etc), a few of the mice had some feces on them but that seems pretty par for the course as far as frozen goes.

We all make mistakes, they'll get my business at least once more.

Big Cheese Factory?

Having read this thread, I decided to use BCRF for my latest order. I have used RodentPro and CajunMice before without problems. I had stopped using RodentPro because of the lack of vacuum packign. I went to BCRF this time because they offered more sizes, and I particularly wanted some small adult mice. The package arrived when I expected it. Everything was frozen, with plenty of dry ice. The mice and rats were all very clean - I saw only one tiny piece of bedding with all the small mice, and no fecal matter. They also threw 11 extra mice in my order, which was a nice surprise!

I should mention an extra nice thing about CajunMice too... the rats I ordered from them were all individually vacuum packed! I hadn't expected that (only requested they be in groups of 3), but it sure is convenient. :)

New and would like an update

I am new to this forum and found this thread while doing a search for feeders. Thanks to my kids, I am getting back into snakes hence I will need a rodent suplier. Back when I was breeding in the past I also raised my own feeders. This time around (at least for know) that is not practacle. The only local pet store that sells frozen that I have found (in San Diego, CA) charges $1.35 for pinkies and $1.50 for fuzzies never even bothered to ask about Adults or rats after hearing that. Needless to say that is not acceptable LOL. Up untill this thread I had only heard good things about RodentPro. If those of you that continued to use, or to give them a second chance, RodentPro could post an update I would appreciate it. I would normaly do a small test order but with shipping charges like they are that is not doable :(

Thanks,
Jeff

I still use RodentPro. The Big Cheese Rodent Factory does package their rodents better (vaccuum sealed), but all of my snakes will eat the rodents from Rodentpro. I recently got some rat pups from BCRF, and my snakes wouldn't eat them. I don't think they appreciated the change.

Also, I will say that RodentPro is very good at replacing products that I am not satisfied with. I'll continue to purchase from RodentPro...

I've kept with Rodent-Pro as well. I have never had a problem with them apart from a small amount of foreign material (bedding etc) occasionally in with the mice. I'll continue to use them unless I have problems.

I must be picky! I stopped using Rodent Pro a long time ago. The animals were always dirty, and dirty just makes me think "unhealthy". Although now I use a supplier that is not mentioned in this thread (I'll have to ask him if he is ready for advertising lol), in the past I always preferred The Mouse Factory. You pay a little bit more than you do with Rodent Pro, but it is worth it to me. The packages take up much less room in my freezer and were always super clean. There was always someone I could call and talk to on the phone about my order and if I did have to leave a message, they would promptly get back to me. Also orders are shipped right away and they often "upped" my discount. If I ordered 400 mice, they would just go ahead and give me the 500-1000 discount. About a month ago I had a friend visiting that ordered from Rodent Pro, I was out of Jumbo mice only and did not want to order for just one size. He brought over a pack of Jumbos from Rodent Pro and nothing had changed as far as I had seen. They were flithy and smelled horrible. If any of my snakes decide not to eat anything else, they're in for a serious hunger strike. :awcrap:

My update on the whole thing. =)

I currently raise my own feeders: pinkies to hoppers. I order my frozen adult mice and rats from a local supplier when needed or from Big Cheese Rodent Factory.

I'm never going back to Rodent Pro for my frozen rodent selection. If I wanted urine perfumed mice, I could do it myself here at home for cheaper. My snakes continually regurged or refused Rodent Pro mice on more than one occaision, and I ended up burying the whole 150 lot of multiple sizes. Them future archaeologists are going to have fun finding that. ;) Anywho..

Sure Rodent Pro has a nice website and good prices, but sometimes when you pay more you actually receive more in return, and such is the case with BCRF. I receive clean, healthy mice conveniently vacuum packed. No more oozing bellies or yellow-tinged heating water, and the added bonus that my snakes will eat every single rodent that I order from them.

Some people get lucky in what they will receive from time to time. But when I receive 2 "bad" orders in a row, it isn't worth it for me. Plus they made me pay shipping when it would have been just as easy to drive the 20 some-odd miles and pick my order up. But nooo...I must be harboring that insanely dangerous and contagious mouse virus and be able to spread it in a single sneeze from the front business office to the barn out back. =P

For someone in the business of convenience, and thats what frozen rodents are, they sure know how to make it inconvenient for some folks. Anyway..thats my take on it currently. If you have good luck with them, more power to ya. =)

I suppose it's a little late to jump in here, but I've always gotten decent mice/rats from Cajun Mice and see no reason to switch.

Advice to RodentPro: Fix your capslock key please. Your posts are extremely hard to read.

Thank you

Thank you all for your updates. All in all I think that I am going to just set up 2 or 3 breeder colonies myself. That is how I use to do it. I just do not know how the kids are going to handle it all. But if they want snakes then they need to know everything so I might as well start right from the begining.

Thanks again,
Jeff

A little late to add my bit, but I chose BCRF over Rodent Pro due to the fact that I wanted the mice vacuum packed. I have only ever been pleased with BCRF.

Better Business Buereau anyone?? I have never ordered rodents from either source but I think that since many people have complained about the DEPLORABLE condition of the food rodents from Rodent Pro they should maybe take it to the BBB. They come into the forum writing in all caps (which is annoying and difficult to read) trying to explain away their fallacies and justify their actions.. I would NEVER EVER feed those half decomposed and feces/urine covered rodents to my snake and I hope no one else will either. I know I sound a bit harsh but it makes me mad that this supposedly "reputable" company would take money for disgusting feces and urine covered rotting "food" to feed to snakes and such. Would any of us humans eat a steak or any other meat products that was half decomposed and or feces/urine covered?? I think now. I would not feed anything like that to my snake either. I hope rodent pro takes a tip from what we are all saying because it endangers our animals lives by feeding them contaminated food. Thank you for listening to my rant but I am sure you all can understand where I am coming from. Peace, love, drink and be merry
