Roger Waters Concert

Syd has been "out of the band" for a long time. Both Waters and Gilmour are original members, if I am not mistaken. I believe the promo flyer for "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" features all three...Barrett, Gilmour, and Waters. I could be wrong, though.

If you want a sample of Syd Barrett at his kookiest...check out the UmmaGumma album. There is some wierd stuff going on there...One toke over the line, at times..."Several Species of Small, Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". It will change your life...j/k;).
Let the old guy make a correction here :grin01:
Gilmour replaced Syd Barrett. Original lineup:
Roger Waters
Syd Barrett
Richard Wright
Nick Mason

Syd was already gone when UmmaGumma was released

I really like all Floyd, but Momentary Lapse and Division Bell are definitely my least favorite albums of theirs. I like Waters's solo albums from that era much more (K.A.O.S. and Amused to Death). My favorite Floyd albums are Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Animals, and on some days Obscured by Clouds. "Summer '68", "Fat Old Sun", "Free Four", "San Tropez", "Echoes", "Dogs", "Sheep", "Pigs (three different ones)"... I love every song on these albums (with the possible exception of "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" on AHM, which is still cool). Dark Side is great too, but maybe I've been hit over the head with it a couple of times too many to list it as a favorite.

I appreciate The Wall 100%, but I don't love the album. If I never heard "Run Like Hell" again, I wouldn't be overly disappointed. Maybe I saw the movie too many times to "enjoy" the music much anymore. But I DO still really like "Comfortably Numb", and a couple of other tracks. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I actually like The Final Cut more that The Wall. :shrugs:

Oh Dean I liked Momentary Lapse a lot! However The Wall is indeed a firm favourite of mine in regards to Floyd "the band". The Final Cut was genius in It's own right, as was The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Wish You Were Here was IMO their best concept album.

As for Barrent I honestly wouldn't mind if I never heard anything from the late 60's Floyd again... I believe David Gilmour replaced Barrett in 1967? Don't quote me. And from then on Floyd was what they are now. (Well mid 70's "now").

In regards to solo Gilmour I think I already mentioned On an Island. That was the best album released in 2006 IMO and the only CD from that year I have a legitimate copy of ;) As for Waters, the likes of "Who needs information", "What god wants" and "The Tide is Turning" are firm favourites. K.A.O.S was yet another amazing concept. I could ramble on Floyd all day...

The Wall is the only album I have (which isn't saying much) that I will listen to EVERY song of. Although, I do skip "Mother" a lot, never really liked that song.

ooops...I'm not old enough, yet ;).

Actually, I'm glad you pointed that out. I was not aware that Gilmour replaced Barrett.

Prepare yourself for a great show!

We saw Waters back on Sept. 30, 2006. Mike is a big Floyd fan and was going no matter what the cost. The ticket prices made my eyes bug out but I decided I might as well go. I can say the price is well worth it. This was probably the best sounding concert I've ever attended, and I've been to a few in my lifetime. *LOL* Great visual, great sound, awesome energy from the crowd...I'd go again in a heartbeat.

P.S. save some money, the shirts ain't cheap either! :eek1:

:-offtopic

I heard a few months back(early '06) that Roger Waters and David Gilmour were planning a reunion tour that was going to hit the U.S. They played a concert that was televised, and for the life of me, I cannot remember what the show was or the concert...some sort of benefit, I imagine. Anyhow, Waters and Gilmour reunited the Pink Floyd lineup for this show, and after the show, a news report, of sorts, mentioned a reunion tour for them was in the works.

Long story short...anyone know anything about this? I would LOVE to see this happen...

Did anybody else see it on Saturday? It was pretty good, but I have nothing to compare it to since it was my first concert (besides the Beach Boys, but that wasn't really a concert).
