I don't think there is any kind of regulation on owning or catching Rubber boas in Idaho. I mainly looked into owning and not really taking one from the wild, so if you were thinking about it, I'd double check that.
Seems like about 95% of people who own Rosy boas love them and the others hate them, say they are the meanest snakes they've ever owned. So, it's my theory that most Rosys are sweet tempered but a mean one is really mean! I have two Mexican Rosys and I have never heard anyone complain about that locale/species. I really love the male, Sebastian, he is super calm and the least head shy snake I have. He is also the one I reach for to show people who are afraid of snakes. The female is okay too, she doesn't bite or anything, just tries to get away pretty much the whole time someone handles her. Not frantically, just persistently.
On the other hand, I've heard nothing but good things about the tempers of Rubber boas, doesn't seem to be a bitey one out there. One of them is on my Wanted list, if I ever get the opportunity.
It's possible that I will be breeding my Rosy boas this year, if everything goes well.
