That was great Lori!! Loved it! Lauren I use to LOVE Hightlights as a kid, especially the hidden pics. Now, I have to go to the dentist just so I can get a Highlights fix. THANKS LAUREN(sarcasm).
 
I LOVE fauna, but I do find that they're just a wee bit less enthusiastic about change over there. I had to vote for the "I love when people don't understand...." option, mostly because I'm a huge fan of frivolity. Unfortunately, sometimes I'm the only person being frivolous, which is how my above post came into play. :p

I love the smilies, but they take me too long to find when I'm trying to answer in a hurry. And that does remind me of Highlights, too! Hidden images rock!
 
I've alway denoted sarcasm by adding asteriks at the end of the sentence. Most groups I've belonged to have done that.

This surprises me a bit.
I didn't know there had ever even been 11 persons from the history of this entire website that would qualify for having "caustic wit", much less 11 that have responded to my poll??? ( darn I wish I would've had that sarcasm font to type the above with...)
 
This is interesting. On another forum I use, to signify that we're being sarcastic or joking, we do a simple pirate emoticon at the end of the sentence. So if I were to say "The Kansas City Chiefs have played horribly today, and Denver deserved to win.

Basically what I'm saying is we need more emoticons. :laugh:

Do you really think it will matter? I mean...you can use every smiley known to man, surround your words in UBB [sarcasm] tags, and use whatever font you want to. The bottm line is...if people want to be offended...they will be.

Yep, I do certainly do think it will matter, although you're right there are some people that prefer being offended without due cause,and this idea was not intended to appease them. In the scenario that I witnessed ( which I wasn't a part of), that got me thinking about this, Yes, I definitely think it would've made a difference and could've stopped the extra four or five posts that the misunderstanding spawned and potential 'hurt feelings'.
But as Stephanie recently pointed out on Fauna, it is technically improbable:

Here's the problem...

The font won't work unless it's actually installed on the computer that is viewing it. So if someone selects it in the drop down when making a post, unless I have that particular font installed on my computer, it will just revert to the forum default.

This is why websites use (at least those programmed correctly) web safe fonts as opposed to any ol' font found on your computer.
