Scaleless Texas Ratsnakes Hatching!!!!!

I have been anticipating this clutch for a while. Laid 5-11-11 Hatching today 7-14-11. 5 are out so far. From a scaleless x scaleless breeding!

Small clutch- only 10 eggs. But it's a 100% hatch rate. 4 sitting in their eggs waiting to come out later....

While messing with the TX Rat babies I noticed that the Hopi Rattlesnakes were hooked up... it's a good day here at Strange Cargo Exotics...

Venomous snakes breed as any other snake does with proper cycling. There's no need to ever handle them- trap boxes, tongs, hooks, etc make it easy to safely transfer them while cleaning. Nope- milking venomous snakes for fun is both dangerous and stressful to the animals. Milking is done in a few select labatories under sterile conditions... It is extremely stressful on the animals. My "hots" are all responsibly kept in a locked building inside custom caging. They are only for advanced/experienced hobbyists- it is dangerous (but so is alot of things in life that people do). I focus mainly of crotalids & heloderma... they aren't for everyone...

There is a handful of keepers that make up the core of the "venomous community". Hopi rattlesnakes are seldom seen in the hobby- by offering CB animals, there's no real need for any to be taken from the wild. Each year I learn more and more stuff- much of that knowledge is gained through observing these animals- breeding them- etc. This year my buddy (who also breeds venomous reptiles) noticed that giving the gravid females a basking light (in addition) to a heat pad shortened gestation by a good three weeks almost from previous years litters. Well see what the results are next year too... just little things. I really enjoy the challenging aspects of these misunderstood creatures.

LOL- my friend just left... he said the same thing.."Those look like hognose snakes with rattles"... They stay small too- about the size of a hog!
