OK, I am just going to say it. Some of the members of this forum are real pricks. A religious person states his opinion and you guys attack him. Why all of the hostility?
I am just reading this thread for the first time and don't see where anyone was "attacked". Albinoscooby presented his opinion, with no facts, and some more spirited discussion ensued. I have seen much much worse on this forum than the replies to his response so I think you need to relax a bit.
In regards to the great flood, I recently watched a documentary on Nat Geo or History channel - and there is indeed scientific evidence of a great flood around the time of Noah in that region. However, IIRC evidence pointed to only that area as being flooded which would be somewhat accurate with the bible - as in that time - that was pretty much the whole world as far as people of that time were concerned.
I was also raised in a very religious family, attending mass every week, going through confirmation, attending religious classes during the week etc...
I believe in God, but I also believe in Science. And I think more and more, science is helping to understand and "prove" some of the stories of the bible. I cannot accept everything as "fact" in the bible, as so much of it was written much much later than actual occurences and has been passed down and translated so many times that I think a lot of the actual historical information and context has been lost.
Another recent documentary I watched was able to scientifically explain the plagues of Egypt during the time of Moses. It was fascinating to watch.
