Science marches on

OK, I am just going to say it. Some of the members of this forum are real pricks. A religious person states his opinion and you guys attack him. Why all of the hostility?

Speaking of 'attacks'

Ancestors? Are you nuts man? Evolution is a joke. Period. .

Anyone who believes in evolution has something seriously wrong with them.

I'm not sure if I was included in the 'prick' statement, as I was merely stating an argument for evolution (I also fall under the category of not finding religion and evolution mutually exclusive). And albinoscooby can believe his opinion all he wants, I hold nothing against that. But to act like he is an innocent is a joke IMO.

What? So you can give it but can't take it? Typical...

I'm not sure what you're getting at here...I already explained myself. And if I was included in the 'forum prick' statement, then I would like you to point out where I was attacking him, rather than stating my own opinion.

P.S. What I said "speaking of attacks" I was not referring to your calling forum members 'pricks'...I was referring to the quotes I posted of albinoscooby where he calls evolution a joke, and that anyone who believes it has something wrong with them. You accused us of attacking him, but failed to point out his attacks on other peoples opinions.

I am just reading this thread for the first time and don't see where anyone was "attacked". Albinoscooby presented his opinion, with no facts, and some more spirited discussion ensued. I have seen much much worse on this forum than the replies to his response so I think you need to relax a bit.

In regards to the great flood, I recently watched a documentary on Nat Geo or History channel - and there is indeed scientific evidence of a great flood around the time of Noah in that region. However, IIRC evidence pointed to only that area as being flooded which would be somewhat accurate with the bible - as in that time - that was pretty much the whole world as far as people of that time were concerned.

I was also raised in a very religious family, attending mass every week, going through confirmation, attending religious classes during the week etc...
I believe in God, but I also believe in Science. And I think more and more, science is helping to understand and "prove" some of the stories of the bible. I cannot accept everything as "fact" in the bible, as so much of it was written much much later than actual occurences and has been passed down and translated so many times that I think a lot of the actual historical information and context has been lost.

Another recent documentary I watched was able to scientifically explain the plagues of Egypt during the time of Moses. It was fascinating to watch.

I didn't even get to albinoscooby's comments when reading the thread. I was referring to those who attacked Russell's comment. Honestly, your comments never sent up a red flag to me that you were being intentionally rude or anything.

Well that's why I asked...I didn't know if you were including everyone in the same bubble or not...some people can get a little touchy when it comes to debate. Glad things are semi-cleared up :)

Well, I guess I could state my opinion on the subject of the thread. I think it is great that they made this discovery. Do I agree or disagree with their interpretations? Neither. I am going to wait until I can read a reputable publication of the findings, not take the "quotes" used by the media to make money off of the story.

If you are going to go there.
You need to be more specific than your blanket generalization, because you've already unintentionally insulted members that you claim to have not included as "pricks" .
So which member are "pricks" in your estimation?

Almost every single sentence in what you just wrote has errors. Fix them and I will get back to you.

ps) This one's for you Dale, don't you love irony?

You really don't have a clue do you? I wasn't talking about grammar. I was talking about your points. Your points contain errors.

I really do need to practice this more...
All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion and forgiveness.
The important thing is they should be part of our daily lives.
I'm going to practice the forgiveness part now.
