Cubbyholing a snake into being a Motley or Tesera or whatever simply because that is what it most conveniently looks like is not necessarily wrong. Eons back there was a standard about what is a "stripe", and that standard was that 80% or greater of the dorsal had to have a complete UNbroken stripe. These days, a lot of what is labelled as "one thing" is something else. Not quite this, not quite that. But here we are at this most interesting nexus of time, events, &c, where we have a lot of old definitions of what is this, that, the other, but no handy way to cubbyhole-into-existing-published-confined-definition of "what the 'heck' I'm looking at".
