Size/Feeding/Weight of 07's..

Well, I am a bad record keeper, I do keep records, but :shrugs:. I do feed my 07's every 5-6 days. They average 50 grams.

My o7' amel who hatched july 3rd is now 100 grams, but i have been feeding him based on the munson plan i think he is just a fast grower :)

Okay, just been through all the cards, and made some notes. This is not all of them - these are just the babies I've had since July, and I've noted the number of times they've fed since July 25th alongside their weight.

From July 25th to today is 32 weeks - 224 days. I feed every five days, and a couple of times have pushed feeding back a couple of days, so the actual number of feeds offered has been 43. Here is a comparison of their weight and the number of feeds they actually ate. The right column orders them in order of number of feedings taken, the left column in order of weight.

58g - 43 | 42 - 72g
48g - 41 | 42 - 26g

18g - 33 | 29 - 34g
18g - 26 | 26 - 18g
16g - 22 | 22 - 16g

Make of that what you will!

Thanks! That is very interesting and informative

I wish I knew when my 07 was hatched. Don has so many snakes though so I think it would be rather pointless to ask him when exactly solstice was hatched.
But if it makes you feel any better he's still only 11g.

I've got a couple in the 70g range, one in the 60g range, and a couple in the 50g range. The three bigger ones are approx. 7 months and the littler two are approx 5 months.
I guess they just eat really good (I offered every 4-5 days when they were on pinks, and they've now moved up to hoppers once a week).

Hickory was hatched 6/2/07 and was 83g when I weighed her about 10 days ago. I've stuck pretty close to the Munson Plan, feeding every 5 days until she moved up to fuzzies and every 6 or 7 days since then. She's a very enthusiastic eater and is usually homing in on the mouse as I'm putting her into her feeding container. Our other snake, Slithers, was hatched 9/06 and he's about 70g and a picky eater. Just the luck of the draw I guess...

I forgot the two guest '07's. Tor El is now up to 7 grams, Ashera is around 10-12 now. Both are July/August '07's. Both were severely underfed before they came to stay with me. They're now on 4-5 day feedings and growing. Who knows what they would be if they had had a better feeding schedule from hatching.

I really think a lot of the growth is genetic and as Dean's very interesting results showed, how much they eat is part of it too. Simbi refused feedings around shedding, Hades eats all the way through, because of this I expect him to catch up to her in a few months.

Another factor could be temps. Warmer temps would mean more effective digestion.

Okay, I got Flash's weight tonight, curiosity got the best of me and I weighed him 4 days earlier than I originally planned. Once again, he was hatched on 9-8-07 and as of 3-5-08 he weighs 14 grams.

I gotta say, some of you people must have some BIG '07's! Yeesh! Before I had Flash, he was getting fed 3 day old pinkies every 7 days and I've been feeding him 2 or 3 (depending on the size) one day old pinkies, for almost 8 feedings now, until they are used up. Then I'll be moving up in size. Good news is that he is definitely gaining weight, since he's up 6 grams in about a month and he's a great eater. Yay, go Flash! :)

My 07s were weighed yesterday;
Bonanza 106g
Bret 90g
Kate 74g
Belle 68g
Joe 50g
Twopersons 33g
Polly 30g
Val the fostersnake went from 8g-16g in 3 weeks and has gone back to the shop

Just weighed my girl butter "Maizey" and she tipped the scales at 16 grams, but I just got her this month so I think she is late 07 hatchling .

I've had Nekoda, my aztec, since Easter of 07. I didn't have scales when I first got her, but I have followed the munson plan pretty much to the letter...just a few deviations when she refused to eat. She weighed 88 grams on the 22nd of February. She's on hoppers now, and when the 5 I have left are gone, I'll move her up to weanlings. She looks healthy, eats very well, in fact strikes and constricts her food now. I feed in her viv as she will often refuse if she is fed in a feeding tub. I figure if she's happy to eat in her viv then thats where I'll feed her.
I, too, was worried about her weight for her age, but reading this thread has put me at ease there. They grow at different paces. As long as they are healthy, that is the main thing.
