sizing of avatar?

plasticknives

the bee's knees: all six
I cannot, for the life of me, resize any of my photos so that theyre small enough to be uploaded as an avatar without them also being about the size of a pea.

can someone slightly more computer-literate help me?

Your photo can be up to 100x100 pixels. If you can't resize the picture yourself, why not get a template? I think my profile picture is 100x100 (click on my profile - it's the one of the scales on the right hand side, not my avatar.) If you'd like, you're welcome to save it and put your picture over the top. :)

thats so nice of you!

i don't know why i can't seem to do it- i've been messing around with it for hours it seems.

i figured i better get somebody more qualified, lol.

Try these. They should both be acceptable for avatars.

Just right-click and "Save Image As" to save them to your computer. For future reference, once you get the sizes correct, choose to "Save for Web" and they will be saved as ".gif" which is a ower quality, and smaller, file size...perfect for avatars.

What Operating System are you running? If your computer has WindowsXP then you'll have paint. Paint allows you to crop and resize an image, and allows you to view how many pixels your image is. I use paint for all my avatars just because I can drag a line over my image, see how many pixels it has, as decide if I want to crop at that point.

If you have paint and want to learn how to do it I can take you through a step by step tutorial. Just let me know if you'd like to see that and I'll do it tonight for you.

Oh, and, contributing members are allowed to have images that are 100x100, but non contributing members are only allowed 60x60 I think.
