This year I'm going to rest my usual females and will only be hoping for 4 clutches.
Bronco Billy (het blood/Christmas) x Silk Miller (same hets)
Bronco Billy x Faith Henley (same hets)
Texas Pete (amel stripe) x Dixie Chicken (stripe)
Lola (Christmas hypo) x Belle Starr (het blood/anery/Christmas)
Billy showed no interest at all in his intended mates last night. Pete is right now making a very inept attempt at wooing Dixie. She's freshly shed and he's excited, but keeps going the wrong way. I'll give him a little more time then see if Lola and Belle can get my breedings off to a start!

As Texas Pete is freshly shed, he's in a honeymoon tub with Dixie. Annie must have given him a lot of help last year, because he's enthusiastically wooing the wrong end of Dixie. Watching him repeatedly try to lift and twine her head whilst she's flagging her tail for the last 20 minutes is hilarious :roflmao:
 
You know that saying about the best laid plans........welll my snakes are intent on wrecking mine! Aftre another enthusiastic wrestling bout between Dixie and Pete today, I'm not sure that Dixie wasn't trying to insert something into Pete! Billy is showing no interest at all in Faith or silk. Belle is in blue.
So, an addition to the plan, Lil is in fine condition, so Butch (anery, poss het amel) is actively chasing her around a tub.
 
I'm still having no luck with my intended pairings at all. So I put Texas Pete the amel stripe in with my ghost motley Annie this morning, and there's evidence!

I should have got a photo of him doing the same thing to Annie this morning. Although there's evidence in the form of a nice bright yellow stain on the paper, I didn't see them lock up so for all I know he could have missed his opportunity, so as to say!
 
A confirmed lock from Annie and Texas Pete. Ghost motley x amel stripe and will test out for hets.
 
I know I should be able to tell by now, but I'm stumped by Pete and Dixie's actions when I pair them up. Their wrestling is so enthusiastic but with no successful hookup that either Dixie was missexed and they are vying for dominance or she just isn't receptive yet. I don't have a probing kit and Dixie was popped as female by her breeder before I bought her.
Lola changed from 'female' to actually being male in similar circumstances a few years back. After which I learnt the hard way no 'female' snake is really confirmed as such until they breed and lay eggs.
 
Hook-up number 2 for this year, Faith and Bronco Billy are locked.

Thanks Tara! I'll have fingers, toes and everything else crossed for this clutch! Silk Miller is in blue so as soon as she sheds I'll see if Billy and her will hook up. I remember Dionythicus was going to try for Christmas bloods but never heard of any results and only saw photos of her Christmas anery.

Yeah, I actually have one of her Christmas Aneries.
He's one of my 4H snakes that the kids can handle because he's so docile.
I haven't attempted to breed him yet. I can't wait to see your results; it will give me an idea of what his babies would look like too.

If I get them, then there's the question of if anyone else has bred them before? Last year I was pretty confident I'd be the first but only got a clutch of slugs and a shrivelled hidden clutch from the girls silk and Faith.
So if I get them and then if I'm the first, I have no idea what I'd call them!

Belle Starr is het for christmas/diffused/anery but I didn't think to keep any of her clutchmates. Of course now I'm kicking myself!
