Joolz68,
In the pic of your viv it looks like you have paper towel rolls strung up across the back of the viv, does your snake use those?

The problem with a dark substrate is finding on suitable. The only two I can thing of are Eco peat and repti bark.

I have never trusted repti bar and have heard some bad things about it.

Eco peat can make a right mess and really keeps the tank too humid for a corn.

What do you suggest? At the minute I use beech chips as I prefer it to aspen. But I use Eco peat for my boa.

I am using coconut bark.Pretty good stuff. Not much for tunneling, but if you have enough things the snake can get under,I don't think it matters.

Here's mine... Hope you like it.

Pretty good looking vivs :grin01: I have to figure out how to get a pic. of mine on here
I AM a viv MASTER

Censlow,,are those weights on top of the screen ?.Look to be 2 1/2 pounders, right ??.You REALLY don't want that guy to get out,do you :grin01:

Your right I dont want it to get out. But its more so the cat doesnt get in. I had clips on the sceen. She swatted those off on the 1st night.

After seeing all those great looking viv's I had to spruce mine up with some foliage to make it a little "greener" for Annie. You all have fantastic setups :crazy02: Thanks for showing me some examples on how to put together a good looking viv. Mine is still a "work in progress"

I would have agreed with you D, until I recently changed to Aspen per the advice of this list. My guy never burrowed and he's always burrowing now. Last night, he kept bumping into his log and would pop his head up to see what was in the way, then down he'd go and then up he'd come like a little submarine. He really likes the ability to tunnel. I'm just sorry it took me this long to get hims something that he could burrow into. :bang:

RLS1966, where did you get that rock hide that goes on the inside and outside of the tank? That's a great idea for a hide.

kaiser10,
I got it at petSmart here in Jacksonville, Fl. It's made by Exo-Terra, it runs about $10.00 for the small and annie prefers that over the other two hides in her viv. It's nice that you can see them in their hide without disturbing them. Here's a web page with the details:
http://www.exo-terra.com/EN/products/reptile_dens_i.html
Even though the ad says it's insulated to keep it cooler inside, my corn prefers it over the warm side hide and cool side hide.
Hope you find one, you'll really enjoy it!!

Here's mine. Built it last summer and it's been great. I have it in my living room as a display viv; people love it when they come over!

Here's a couple pictures of Spur's tank, he's outgrown it though, so as soon as my boa's new viv is done I'm going to be moving them both so they have enough room. Of course, that will give me enough room to get another snake. :) :crazy02:

You have an awesome looking viv. I had one of those magnetic rocks once, but I threw it away after my mom accidentally squished the tip of Rose's tail. I didn't want to have to check for any body parts hanging down every time I closed the rock. I especially didn't want it to be her head. It was really luck that it was only the very tip of her tail. Anyway, she's too big for it now.

When I setting up my tank,,I seen those half rock things at Petco,,but thought the snake wouldn't get the privacy he's looking for with a "glass" wall on one side. The hides I do have are VERY private for my snake.I can't even tell which one hes in most of the time.
