Snake petting?

My older ones don't seem to care either way, if I'm sitting and watching tv with them, I can pet them and they just continue on their way.

The little ones tend to try and speed away if I touch them unexpectedly, they're not too keen on being pet.
 
I run my hands down my snakes scales in a petting motion as I hold them. (adults) I don't think they really care either way.
 
my 3 month old corn sits and gets rubbed on the bottom side of her head and she seems to love it! just sits there and makes no effort to move away!
 
My female seems to enjoy being scratched gently right behind/below the eye, sort of on her jaw. The others though seem to have no reaction to it. I had a ball python who would go into a zen state when he was petted in an even motion. It was rather goofy! :p
 
My little ones don't like it. Then again, almost every single one of my '08s is a bit of a hateling. My adults don't seem to mind.
:-offtopic , but one of my boas seems to love being petted and gently squeezed.
 
They will crawl through your hands but wont necessarily stay to be
"pet" like you would some regulaar animal. They tolerate us and
get used to us, but would most likely rather be left alone..
I handle mine regularly to get them used to it and they are
less nippy than ones that aren't.
 
My boy seems to love to be stroked, down his sides and under his chin. He will just lay on my chest and not make an attempt to move away. It is our bonding time
 
When my boy finally calms down, he'll sit there and be all "oh... well... this is nice" and just hang out with me, sometimes on my desk (without needing to explore everything! simply amazing. heh) or on my arm while I'm petting him.

He loves to curl around my neck and have me pet him while I read. Funny little guy. :)
 
Most babies are skittish, but calm down with growth and with regular handling. If by "petting" you mean stroking or scratching like with a dog or cat, I don't know if the snakes enjoy it or not. Some give every appearance of liking to be handled. Some of mine are classroom pets and quite tolerant of petting, but I wouldn't say they enjoy it. Climbing around on people-trees or curling up in a warm spot they like; petting they don't mind, but don't seek.
 
I only have one snake (adult male) maybe 2 years old... he's fine with petting as long as I dont get too close to his face then he'll try to get away. He seems to prefer just to sleep inside my shirt for a few hours. When he was younger he didn't like to be pet or picked up... seems like a similar theme for everyone else's snakes!
