I have several snakes, well around 25 now. I have noticed that some of mine would rather slither around, looking for, I don't know what, then hide. Dun know why, but they do it. Some just go to the hide and stay. Eventually, they all wind up hiding at some point, usually to warm up or cool down to regulate.
I really think they are just being nosy. I don't necessarily believe that because a snake is on cruise control, that there is a problem. If you have moved things or recently cleaned the tank, they could be a bit intimidated, but like anything else, soon it will settle right back into it's comfortable spot and do normal little snake things.
The exception to this rule, is if there is a problem with care or husbandry. Temps are off, hides too big, tank not clean, etc. But, I don't
think this is a problem. Check the setup just to make sure.
Also, a snakes will sometime get really cruising around the tank in the spring. Something about looking for love!

My males are on patrol now and one just came out of a 3 month hunger strike. So that is normal behavior. The first time I had seen it, I got worried. But, it turned out to be normal snakey behavior.
Good luck and I hope this helps a bit.
